Up for sale is a 1968 Amc Amx. I purchased this car in 2015 with the intention of repainting and driving a mostly original survivor. It was an original California car and had 45, 000 miles when I got it, but needed freshened up. All of the mechanicals have been rebuilt or replaced, and the engine has been rebuilt as well. Power disc brakes with 4 piston calipers and power steering make it a very nice driving car that wouldn't need much to be complete or taken to a more show ready appearance.
Body:Very solid body - No rust at all.Original bumpers - Front shines well despite blemishes but rear could stand to be replaced if you desire better chrome.Repainted in Matador Red in June 2016 - Base coat/Clear coat paint.All other trim - mirror, AMX badges, door handles, grille - All original to the car and in great shape.
Interior:Originally tan interior with vented-reclining seats. New headliner board installed and new carpet installed.Seats are original, and very presentable. Also original door panels and dash and cluster in great shape. New window seals do come with the car.
Engine/Trans/Rear:I drove the original 343 for over 1, 000 miles, but decided to rebuild it to know it was ready for a road trip.Mostly a stock rebuild.New rings and bearings - All new gaskets.Comp Cams K-Kit with cam/lifters - New pushrods and valve springs.Cam is 268H - 218 Duration @ .050 on Intake and Exhaust - .456 Valve lift on Intake and Exhaust.Original intake, carb, manifolds - with air pump lines plugged - But air pump comes with the car.It sounds and runs great - Tons of torque and power - And a pair of Dynomax Bullet mufflers.
Transmission:Original V-Code Close Ratio T-10 4 Speed. New clutch and throwout bearing installed.Shifts smooth and perfect - Even with original 1968 shifter and long throw.
Rear End:Original 3.15 rear with a NON posi carrier. Great highway machine.
Miscellaneous:Cragar SS Wheels -Front - 14 x 6 - 205/70R14 Radial T/ARear - 15 x 8 - 255/60R15 Radial T/A
Power steering and Power Disc brakes - Rebuilt the original 4 piston calipers and solid rotors.
I have driven this car quite a bit, and took a great 250+ mile trip along Corridor H in it, and it performed perfectly. It has a clear West Virginia title in my name. There may be some more information I'm missing, but feel free to ask any questions.
