Opel Omega (1970)

Description:

Here I have a true 20, 000 mile original paint, rust-free survivor quality Opel Kadett! Nevermind the 'Omega' included in the description, that is an ebay uncorrectable mistake. This is a '70 Opel Kadett, Model 31, 2-door coupe. This car has a unique story which I will try to shorten by saying it was originally ordered & purchased by a U.S. service person in Germany, shipped back to the states in 1971, and was garaged in Tampa, FL until when in1988 it moved with it's owner to NY where it was garaged only to be driven each year to receive service and yearly inspection! Almost all of the last 15 years it remained garaged due to estate problems and was not driven at all. Around late 2015 the kadett was sold in an estate sale, having one owner for over 40 years! I have lots of paperwork to back up this car's history including original sales invoice, over-seas shipping paperwork, all original manuals, warranty book, dealer brochures, repair receipts etc., keys etc. This car has 100% of it's original Stratos Blue paint. Not without a few dings & dents and fading in places, but good for 47 years old. Although paint/bodywork could make it perfect, in my view they are only original once and I would not paint this car just to hide a few bruises! There is no rust thru but there is surface rust under hood and trunk lid but nothing crusty or bad! The worst spot on the car is the right lower front fender and valance. This is shown in the pics and is not bad and not real noticeable due to where it is. I bought the car from a man who had purchased it out of the estate sale. He had gotten it running and driving, but it needed the Solex dual-downdraft one-barrel carbs rebuilt and synchronized which I have done along with new original muffler, tailpipe and original O-ring exhaust hangars. I also replaced the transmission and diff grease, engine oil, filter, water pump and radiator hoses(NOS), rebuilt the brakes including new wheel cyls. and rebuilt master cyl. The car runs and drives very nicely and is quite peppy! The tires have good tread but are starting to show dry rot, fine for city driving and I have driven on the interstate at 55 mph., but should be replaced for sustained highway speed. The pictures tell the condition but feel free to email with ???. The interior of this car is amazing! Even the original rubber floor mat is perfect showing zero wear! The original white vinyl seats are still bright white with no cracking or stiffness. The original GM seatbelts with GM badging are like new also. The original dash is also perfect with original 'no radio' blanking plate still in place! All original glass and rubber weatherstrip is like new! Also, all lights, horn, heater fan & controls & switches are original and working as should be. I have driven this car only 200 miles, but it really gets attention everywhere it's been. I am only selling to make room for a new toy-Good Luck with bidding! Thanks!
