Description:

Ready for the open road! Tour the states in this restored 1971 Volkswagen “tintop” camper. This bus is a solid, very dry, Southwest Kansas classic. I pulled this beauty out of a field 10 years ago where it had set for 20 years. I have since been restoring and bringing it back to life in my spare time. Now it’s your turn to relish this original as others stare on enviously. The body was painted was in 2012 with the interior upholstery update following in 2013. At that time I begin venturing out with the bus on nice weekends and short trips. During the winter of 2016 the engine was overhauled to a 1641cc with a freshly rebuilt/ rebushed German 34pict3 carburetor, and electronic SVDA distributor. While the engine was out the transaxle was serviced, a new clutch was installed, and the entire brake system was overhauled. Since rebuilt, the new engine currently has about 300 miles. I just returned from a 100 mile cruise and the bus performed flawlessly. While never intended as a show car, this bus has earned recognition having taken “First- In -Class” at multiple events. That being said, with the paint being 5 years old the bus does have a few very minor blemishes to the well trained eye. This is a fantastic, mechanically sound, reliable, rust-free VW Bus ready to take you on many outdoor adventures or to use as a daily driver. I hate to see this bus go but I have acquired a split window bus that needs the same treatment is one received.
I reserve the right to end this auction early as the bus is advertised on other sites as well.
