NOTE: THIS VEHICLE IS LOCATED IN DENIA, SPAIN, but I ship to the USA. Please check my feedback, and please read the entire listing before bidding.
I am an American, living in Spain, and I sell and export vehicles to the USA regularly. Although shipping costs are not included in the price of the sale, I work every month with an established worldwide shipper and will work directly with the buyer to arrange delivery to the USA. I will drop the vehicle off at the port of Valencia for you at no additional cost, prepare all the proper documentation for shipping to the USA, and handle all the US customs and importation on the USA side.
If you would like me to handle the shipping, customs paperwork, and everything for you, the cost is a flat-rate of $1900, port-to-port, to your choice of New York, Baltimore, MD, Jacksonville, FL or Freeport (Galveston), TX. No additional costs. No work on your part. You just pick the car up from the port, fully cleared and released.
Once the vehicle is in your possession, you will also have all the documents you need to register the car in any of 50 states (California included). I can even arrange transportation within the USA, from the port to your driveway. In short, I am here to help with every step of the process of delivering this vehicle to you.
You are of course welcome to fly here and test the car for yourself before you bid, but if that is not feasible, I will be happy to take additional photos, videos, etc. and send them to you. Whatever you need. We can speak on the telephone, or by Skype, so you can see the vehicle in real time before you bid.
If you have any questions, please ask and I will post as many answers here as possible.

WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?Still lovely from an older restoration, this late Series IIA 88 is beautiful from every angle and needs nothing.
Exterior and interior were stripped and repainted approximately eight years ago in the original Sage color, then reassembled using original parts when excellent and new parts when necessary. Bodywork is straight and free of filler, and the paintwork is of a high standard - equal to or superior to the original factory finish. All doors close and latch correctly with excellent panel gaps throughout. The removable tropical roof is straight and correct, and the original galvanized beltline trim is in original and excellent condition. The color-matched Limestone wheels are from a later Defender and therefore use tubeless tires without issue.
Inside, the reupholstered seats remain beautiful and supple, with excellent foams and stitching in the original pattern. The rest of the interior is as spartan and utilitarian as a Series IIA gets, but with everything charmingly original and functioning as it should.
The frame is entirely straight and rust free, with no dents or signs of previous off roading. There is no rust in the longitudinals, cross members, pickup points, floors, doors, or bulkheads.
Inside and out, top and bottom, it has wonderful curb appeal and looks as good as you are likely to find in an 88 of this vintage. A wonderful example of what is widely considered to be the best of the 88's, in a classic color combination, ready for any use you care to put it to.
WHAT'S IT LIKE TO DRIVE?After warming the glow plugs the rugged little Rover two-and-a-quarter diesel fires easily and settles into a comfy idle with no undue smoke or clatter. Select first, engage the clutch and off you go.
Compared to other 88's we have driven everything feel light and refined on this truck. The steering, not power assisted, feels as light as if it were, the clutch travel is perfect, the gearchange snicks from cog to cog more easily than most, and the brakes stop powerfully with a light and easily-modulated pedal. The engine is willing and lusty down low and revs freely, allowing you to keep up with modern traffic on all but the fastest roadways.
All gauges, lights and switches work as intended, and the vehicle has recently passed the rigorous Spanish safety inspection without issue.
As with all Series Land Rovers, the upper bodywork is removable, allowing you to run the vehicle fully open as a convertible. We offer our own proprietary Bimini top - a stowable soft top and frame which can be fitted or removed in minutes. Contact us for details if you would like it included.
This Land Rover is a lovely driver, simple to own, simple to operate, and simple to maintain. 88's are eminently maneuverable on road or off, and with the legendary Land Rover abilities in tough terrain, this Series IIA would make a fantastic adventure vehicle for reaching that remote fishing hole, surf break, camp site, or rustic English pub across town.
