Description:

My son and I purchased this car about a year and half ago. We were told by the second owner who purchased it 2010 from the original owner that the car had been originally bought for the mans wife as he already had a C3 Corvette but he enjoyed driving it to town and back because of the convenience of the automatic transmission. It has been off the road, parked and garaged since the plates expired in 1994. (there are no back fees due) The second owner found out about the car from a family friend and purchased it with the plans to put it back on the road. He did some brake work on it, tuned it up and lost interest. It sat in his garage until he needed the room for other projects. At which time we purchased it with the understanding that it ran but didn't hear it run.We brought the car home, put a new battery in it and fresh fuel, cranked it over and it wouldn't start. We pulled the distributor cap and cleaned up the points and it fired right up. It smoked a little bit on start up but seemed to clear out after running it up to temperature. It still seems to smoke a little bit on hot startup. (we've run it a total of less than an hour). As mentioned the previous owner did some brake work (shoes, wheel cylinders?) but I didn't pull the drums to confirm what was done. He also installed a electric fuel pump. The brake pedal is soft but the brakes do work. We then added 2 1/2 to 3 quarts of ATF to get it to move and drive under it's own power. The trans pan seems to leak.We noticed the heater core neck was leaking and by passed it at that point. We've driven it less than a half mile total around our neighborhood. The paint is mostly factory code 529 Fire glow orange enamel. The car has had some paint work done on it at some point on the rear deck and rear panel and the drivers door still shows some areas that were previously repaired and blended in what appears to be lacquer. I believe the original owner also installed the Weber 32/36 carb. The car is very original and rust free but does have the typical rust through spot underneath the front nose/valance panel. The headlights have been re-wired sometime in the past and did not work or close properly when I bought it. I've fixed the wiring issues and replaced the headlights with new halogen units and timed and adjusted them and they work awesome now. That's all I've had the time to do with it. It still needs the windshield wipers installed and some new bolts to hold the luggage rack on properly. The interior is ok but as seen in the pictures has some splits in the seams. Everyone who sees the car thinks it's cool. My son went off to college and it's just sat in my garage. I'd love to keep it if I had the room for it but I don't. Please feel free to inspect the car locally.
