1981 DeLorean DMC 12 with only 3, 824 original miles, #746 off the line. This is an early production car with the desirable features only found on the early cars. Vehicle has a separate fuel door within the hood so you don't have to open the entire hood to fuel the car. It also has darker gray wheels then the later production cars. These wheels match closer to the color of the nose and tail panels of the car.
This car was originally sold in California. The original owner put just over 1, 900 miles on the car before selling it to an auto museum. It remained in a climate controlled museum for over 25 years free of wear and tear nor sun damage. It was purchased from the museum by a collector who plan to mechanically restore the car but never did. It sat in his garage for years having no threat of damage from the sun or wear and tear. I purchased the car in early 2015 and had it shipped directly from the seller in New Mexico to Gulf Coast Motor Works/DeLorean Motorcars in Bonita Springs Florida. My instruction was for a full and complete mechanical restoration of the car. The car was with them for several months and restoration work totaled over $22, 600. What I got in return was like a brand new car. Cosmetically the car looks like new due to its lack of use and Exposure to the sun. Keeping the car out of the damaging sun preserved it like new. The interior of the car truly looks like it did when new. The headliner on the gull wing doors had to be replaced and this was done along with the mechanical restoration. You will not find a more like new DeLorean than this one. With the complete professional mechanical restoration of the car, it is truly like new again. The car was road ready and I did not hesitate to drive it anywhere. Since I got the car back in March 2015, I have put approximately 1900 miles on the car. It has been a pleasure and a joy to drive. I wish I didn't have to sell it, but I am moving from a house with a four car garage to a condo with only two spaces.
I seriously doubt there is a nicer more fully restored DeLorean in the marketplace. After getting the car back from restoration, I had a high-end Kenwood CD stereo with Bluetooth installed with all new speakers. I kept and will include the original Craig cassette player with the car. Also included is an original dealer options car cover with DMC printed on the front. There is also an original dealer options bra for the car. Also included are two full boxes of the DeLorean World magazines from the 80's and four hardbound books on John DeLorean.
