Description:

It's national Star Durant month in case you didn't know , so here's another Star car offering for you this month.
1923 Star (Durant ) model C touring car. A solid old unrestored car that is in a running and drivable with care condition that is due to have various repairs , service and restoration .as one chooses or is required
Turns over good and starts up in 4 degrees so far and stops with squealing glazed lined brakes, Emergency brake holds .
Recent valve grind with some new valves installed. Oil pan cleaned out...In side looks great. We have what we diagnose a wrist pin knock...Confirmed by the previous owner was there since the 50s when the car was resurrected . Car pulls along well enough with the wrist pin complaining and also with worn distributor shaft bushings that have only a tiny effect presently .Carb float needle is worn and can stick closed after sitting a while and ..It has a few times stuck open an drained the carb when parked a long while. There is a shut off under the fuel vacuum tank and we use it if the car will sits for long outings..Tie-rod end and king pin bushings are worn in the front end resulting into a lower speed shimmy over washboards and rutted spots. A wrench of the steering wheel gets you out of it. .Re-bushing the front axle is a good first project. Steering wheel has about 2 inches of play.at the outer diameter Accessory Starlock steering wheel is an unlock and spin free type. We have keys for it. Horn botton on wheel is not working, , , We have a post button rigged and is rather bla, vibrator type,
Transmission (crash box )shifts well if you know how. Clutch feels and works good .
All electrics work on old wire with some spliced in new wire... Amp meter and ignition/lamp switch are previous old replacements are not original to the car but are period.
This solid old car with its share of little rattles and squeaks , sincerely appears never to have been apart , with very good body wood ! . Good overall body sheet metal with bumps and bruises and small kinks in the fenders . Small rust spot in extreme lower rear body corner curve where is meets the frame. Metal floor pans/ panels under the seats are good.Repainted in , out and all around in the middle 1950s is now a bit scratched , nicked and scuffed .plus dusty road and storage dirty.
1950s Riverside Ward tires have deep tread and cracks , Left rear leaks 25lbs in a week form 60 lbs , we have a new tube for it not yet installed...Need a good warm day to play with that old stiff rubber.
Nicely replaced top done in the 1950s. Top is soft and feels flexible. .We have not let it down and don't plan to. Top sags a bit in the middle on the right side and you see the metal irons showing from the side view.
Wood wheels are very good with nice wood showing where paint has flaked off Running board wood is punky and looks to have been replaced once with old matt and trim reused. Now all should be redone again ..
With exception of front seat cover , interior upholstery is original & tired but hanging on , even old rear carpet is there. .
Radiator shows no repairs or leaks, Slightly greasy inside, has not over heated this past summer or this winter . .Photos may show wet on the core or block area as we over filled the anti-freeze after a valve grind and the over tube is clogged!Original STAR motor meter works.
Car can keep up with any Model T Ford when it comes to factory oil leaks. The Stars and Durants are well known to mark their territory. live with it !
We drive it about, to and from the Post office , barber shop , Good Will , Liquor store , grocery store , gasoline depot and Walmart weekly any weather better then a down pour if needed .Note! we are not saying it is in some great shape for daily worry free driving or touring, we are just die hard old car (drivers) and kind-a on the stupid side and are use to obsolete cars with aches and pains(like us) and nothing bothers us. It gives us a kick and like to meet folks and hold up traffic :) If these old cars run at all we put them in service to earn some keep while we have them .
The car needs plenty of TLC but has has proven to have great possibilities to play around with and fix up as you go with it's good old cosmetic patina..
That's our shortest most annoying ramble (I'm sure ) highlighting the major points. It is what it is..
We have no title but the last registration sighed to over us which is a legal bill of sale in Connecticut and that registration was current in early 2015, you get a copy it. Plus a copy of an additional plain bill of sale to us on Connecticut DMV paper . You get a fresh Bill of Sale on Connecticut DMV paper from me to you.
If your state is a pain in the butt about titles, I can't help you . My paper trail should be plenty and all there is..
Vintage 1923 Green Connecticut License plates are not included .
THe car is also offered locally and maybe sold at any time .
Additional questions , please call 203-596-8128 ..I'm up at 6am and hit the rack at 10-12:00 Eastern Standard?
