Description:

Up for sale is this beautiful classic piece of history!!! 1964 was an iconic year in the automobile industry and this Comet is one of the greatest examples of that hot rod era.
Boss 302ci engine out of 69 Mustang is now a 347ci stroker high performance beast!! Sounds great even with stock mufflers for a slick and stealthy sound, but also has the exhaust cutouts for an all out dragster sound! Motor has been completely rebuilt with all new high performance internals!! Block has been sonic tested to check for cracks and line honed, Scat 347 stroker kit with .040 over forged flat top pistons making 10.2:1 compression, Cleveland 351 58cc closed chamber heads have been ported and polished, Holley intake has been ported to match gaskets, and Holley 750 double pumper has been tuned for maximum performance. That along with Comp Cams .512 lift camshaft, Richmond 4.11 gears, and Hooker Super Competition full length headers makes this light weight Comet a real screamer down the strip.
Race ready!!! This Comet has custom subframe connectors, battery in the trunk, RCI pro street 12 gal fuel cell with aviation foam filling to prevent fuel slosh and aeration, electric fan, original v-belt pulleys have been replaced with serpentine style for durability and performance, and battery shut off switch for safety. Comet runs great, engine starts right up and takes very little time to warm up. No smoke, no leaks, no hesitation!! Engine is super strong and runs perfect. I never got it dyno'd but I would guess around 450 hp and 500 lbs of torque.
4 speed Toploader transmission has also been rebuilt with new synchros and bearings. It shifts great and firm. The Comet drives good and is plenty reliable as is. It also comes with big bolt pattern front spindles that can easily be turned into disc brakes. 9 rear differential out of late 60s Bronco which are stronger by having a heavy duty housing and bigger axles. Firestone tires are practically brand new with very little miles on them.
I was going to turn this into a A/FX clone which is why the hood now sports the famous Teardrop scoop, but as it turns out, the extra clearance is also needed because of the 2 aluminum spacer and huge K&N filter. The interior, however, is totally a different story. Completely stock with bench seat in great condition with no tears, retro style belt buckles, original dash and steering wheel also in great shape. All gauges except for the fuel and speedometer work and all lights work as well.
List of parts include: Comp Cams K-kit, Holley street dominator intake, Scat 347 stroker kit, Milodon high volume oil pump, Holley 750 carb, Milodon high volume water pump, Edelbrock Performer RPM street fuel pump and fuel filter, Hooker Super Competition headers, Summit Racing Exhaust cutouts, Moroso Spiral core 8mm spark plug wires, Crane Cams Fireball HI-6 digital CD ignition, Crane Cams Fireball PS91 performance coil, Edelbrock Elite air cleaner & valve covers, RCI fuel cell, Ford Racing Toploader rebuild kit, Richmond 4.11 gears, USA Standard Ford 9 rear end rebuild kit. Also comes with big bolt spindles and Summit Racing traction bars not installed.
Being that it is a 52 year old classic car, the Comet does have some imperfections like rust and wear and tear. Most of the major rust on the floors has been cut out and replaced with regular sheet metal by previous owner, but it still has some on the drivers side floor as well as the rear wheel wells. The top headliner although is nice, has tears and holes, and the 4 speed hole hump will have to be made or bought. The exterior body work has mostly been done, but still has some imperfections here and there in order to make this a show car. Weather stripping will need replacement in some areas and trunk will need a new lock. I did drive this around town and to local car shows and it has always performed fine. You can leave as is or drive around meanwhile you restore it, either way the Comet has a lot of potential for a real head turner or racing classic!!!
Super low starting bid and no reserve leaves this beauty a chance to become someone's dream of owning an American classic hot rod come true!!! Any other questions just ask and I'll do my best to answer as soon as possible. I also have tons more pictures that I can e-mail. Title is clean, clear, and in my hand ready for the lucky winner!!! Good luck!
