Authentic original vintage ca.1940s Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Keychain License Plate (KLP) or Tag.
Size: approx. 0.5 x 1.25

Condition/Notes: Good. Quite worn on back. Good plastic on front, some corrosion on steel rim.
This KLP may have spent a year or two on a keychain.
A decent space filler for your collection until a better copy comes along
Note: these are as-is items -- some show wear, a little rubbing, nicks in the paint, even tiny bits of rust -- signs of their age.
When I collect, I look for the best copy available, but I have a hard time turning down less than perfect examples. Unused copies are my favorites, but good used ones are acceptable to me.
I wouldn"t sell a KLP that I wouldn"t have in my own collection, so despite the variable quality depicted in the photos, you can be confident that they are in very good or better condition.
Sometimes the scans show imperfections or details magnified way beyond what we see with the naked eye. You may have never seen a KLP up this close.
I use a combination of scanner shots and iPhone camera shots, but need to work to better illuminate things without shadows or glare.
About my DAV KLPs: I love these old keychain license plate tags--collect them myself.
My Mom got me started collecting in the 1990s when she handed me a little box containing the duplicates she had saved since the 1940s.
She supported the DAV -- a WW2 veteran herself -- and we always had these around the house, and used them on our keychains.
I even got one mailed to me, for my first car in the 1970s before DAV ended the program.
Now I look for these KLPs at flea markets, garage sales, paper sales, antique stores looking for that elusive rare one state or year I don"t have in my collection.
has made the search much easier, but it"s still fun to find them when least expected.
