THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION FOR MY 2014 Panther Water car, Yes it is a amphibious car. These vehicles are built in California and are considered kit carsbut are completely custom from the ground up (jet driven). I wont go into the History of Watercar but I suggest you go to (Watercar dot com) to read all about them. Yes they are very pricey at $155, 000.00 for a new one. Here's your chance to own one for a fraction of the cost. If you don't like attention or your picture taken don't buy it! I had a coast guard cutter pull up next to me with about 8 guys taking pics of us!. Now about mine, it was named the Catalina Car because Watercar used if for a demonstration driving it from Newport California to Catalina (about 30 miles) by water. They also showed how versatile it was by hanging it by hooks on the back of a yacht.(see pics on watercar).It is what they call a fan car it was the first generation of cars they built. The first generation cars were cooled by electric fans. The cars are powered by a 4.7 acura motor but because the engine sits in the rear of the car they are difficult to cool (basically the engine sits in a bowl). Now when they are in the water they are cooled like a inboard boat with a heat exchanger and have no cooling issues at all. When I bought the car I did some modifications to the original design to help is cool better while on land. I removed the original small radiator and added a larger 4 core radiator , I also added a L88 style scoop with another 15 inch fan to the rear deck lid to help draw hot air out. These modifications helped a lot but I think it would still heat up if driven for long periods or on the highway. (I have no problem driving it around the neighborhood and to the boat ramp etc..) The engine in these cars are 2007-09 4.7, I decided to look around for a spare before they got too hard to find, I located a low mileage 09 complete motor for 2k that I purchased that will go with the car. Its still on the pallet it came on. I also have a spare deck lid and a hydraulic pump for the wheel hydraulics . Watercar is a excellent company and have been very helpful with any questions I have had. If you are truly looking for a unique toy this is the one! It is geared pretty tall and runs about 50-55 on land and about 45 mph on the water, it has a GPS speedo . These cars are both a car and boat and the buyer should be mechanically inclined to trouble shoot when problems occur, I learned a lot about it just tinkering with it.
