1931 PACKARD ROADSTER
The 1931 and the 1932 are considered the ultimate years for Packard design. However, 1931 was the last year that you could get from the factory a Packard Super 8 Roadster.
A true Packard Roadster has side curtains and no roll up windows. In 1932 Packard tried to pass off the 1932 Packard with roll up windows as a roadster but by definition, the 1932 was in fact just a convertible coupe.
The owner of this ultra rare 1931 Packard Super Eight Roadster with the factory update 1932 radiator shell, bumpers, etc. in one of the most beautiful color schemes of any Packard has indicated that he will consider offers at $149, 500.00. The 1931 Packard Roadster in this eBay auction is considered by many experts, including us at MissChiTown, the finest roadster of the classic era. It is a Super Eight in one of the most fantastic color schemes that we have seen on any classic Packard. The car has been restored completely and is ready to show. Very seldom if ever do you find a Packard Roadster on eBay that has it all. Yes, the big 140-inch wheel base, Super Eight, right color scheme and a restoration that will impress. Another interesting fact about Packard, is that in 1932, Packard came out with the V-Packard grille shell to convert the 1931 flat Packard grille shell. Considering the fact that in 1932 there were no true Packard roadsters, many of the owners of the 1931 Packard Super Eight felt that the only improvement that was made in 1932 was the V grille shell. Packard upon responding to demand of these owners…offered a V grille shell kit in 1932 that could be used to convert the 1931 Packard flat grill shell to a 1932 V-Grille shell.
