For sale is 1936 Aero Type 30 is a Czech-built roadster from the company better known for their aircraft manufacture. Imported from the Czech Republic, this Aero Chassis #6997 is powered by a stock 1-liter 26 bhp twin-cylinder two-stroke engine. It was previously restored in Prague around 2000 with rebuilt mechanicals, fresh paint and new leather interior. The seller has owned the car for 15 years and imported it himself to the US in 2004. It was in good driving order at that time, and it went straight into storage where it has been sitting for 12-years. The owner took it out of storage in the summer of this year to sell and looked at selling it, but prospective buyers said that they would prefer reassurance that the mechanics run.
Since then, the owner has taken it to a mechanic in Denver who has flushed the fluids, given a simple tune-up and verified that it runs. The rebuilt engine has less than 50 miles on it. Sellers are moving on with this car because they moved from Colorado to California and have not had the time hoped to enjoy the car.
When imported, the car did not have a VIN in the Czech Republic because registration of cars was by “Chassis Number” and VINs are slightly different. As such, Colorado has issued a VIN and a “Rebuilder’s Title, ” which is a general title that provides ownership, drivability, and transfer rights for cars that aren’t in a normal category. This is a fully marketable title (it’s not a salvage title). Colorado VIN IDCO003593ZZ.
This low-slung roadster is among the last models produced by Aero, though the company lives on as Aero Vodochody making a variety of planes, helicopters and aircraft components. The handsome bodywork is finished with shiny paint. There is an owner’s manual, as well as export documentation available.
The car has never been driven outside in the rain. The interior is basic but elegant with a stylish dash and large center speedometer which doubles as an all-in-one instrument cluster. Seats are all leather and were redone completely at the time of restoration. The horizontal lever protruding below the dash is the shifter for the 3-speed non-synchro transmission. Remarkably the car is a four seater, or nominally a 2+2 (as it’s referred to in Europe).
Engine #36795 is a 28 horsepower, 998cc, air-cooled two stroke powering the front wheels.
