Consider this 1939 Opel Super Six Roadster that has been transformed into a roadster with a modern heart and classic styling. This example has gone through a body-off restoration and has an all-steel body. With its tall, open grille, headlights perched between the nose and fenders and a wide rear, the restomod roadster looks great!
Finished in two-tone red, the car’s paint and trim are in overall excellent order. The doors open suicide style, hinged at the rear. The bodywork is straight and solid and the engine bay is extremely tidy. The car’s red rear bumper fits well to the car’s body. There’s a gray, folding canvas top that contrasts nicely with the paint and a rear-mounted spare tire with cover and a rumble seat.
This Opel rolls on Mastercraft Avenger GT tires in front, size 185/60R14 and 295/50R15 in back. Each tire is mounted on a Cragar mag wheel. The tires are in very good condition while the Cragars are in overall excellent shape. For even more comfort, this vehicle is equipped with an air-ride suspension, complete with underdash controls and a pressure gauge.
Under the vee’d hood rests a GM 350 CID small block V-8 engine with a four-barrel carburetor and an Edelbrock intake manifold and electric cooling fan. It breathes via Hooker headers and dual exhausts. This motor is backed by a Turbo Hydramatic three-speed automatic transmission. Driver convenience features include power brakes and GM tilt steering column.
Inside, the cockpit is swathed in lots of wood. The dark gray bucket seats look great as does the dark gray carpet. A three-spoke, Banjo-style steering wheel with a thick wooden rim that complements the surrounding woodgrain. The inner door panels are done in dark gray and black while the woodgrain dash has a full set of VDO gauges populating it. The dash blends with a waterfall center stack that has a Sony AM/FM stereo with a CD player in it. A column-mounted shift lever completes the interior.
The Opel Super 6 was an executive car built by the German car manufacturer Opel between 1937 and late 1938. The car was equipped with a 2.5-litre straight-six engine. It was available in three different versions: a four-door sedan, a two-door coupé and a two-door cabriolet.
