This is a well-cared for 1953 MG-TD. A frame-on restoration was just completed, about 40 test miles since completion. The car has been stored and worked on in a heated garage for the past several years.
The car runs and drives great. The only reason I am selling it is because my better half has been steering me to the realization that I have too many vehicles. Maybe. Maybe not.

WHEELS
Brand new Vredestein 165HR15 Sprint Classic tires
Front wheel brake cylinders replaced 2001

SUSPENSION
New tie rod ends
New bushings and seals
Refurbished rear leaf springs

ENGINE
Complete cylinder head cleaning by Thirlby Automotive, Traverse City, Michigan
New valves, springs, guides and cotter set
Complete carburetor refurbishing by the John Twist team at University Motors, Grand Rapids, Michigan
New generator, original generator included
New oil pan drain plug and copper washer
Master cylinder replaced 2001
All new brass core plugs
Cooling system completely flushed
New hoses
Spin-on oil filter included, not installed

INTERIOR
Interior in very nice condition
Gauges all work, except for the clock
Steering wheel has some material chipped away where attached to the spokes
Vinyl upholstery - no rips or tears
Carpeting in nice shape
Driver side inside door handle missing knob, but handle works fine
New MG logo mats
New set of 2-point seatbelts, not installed

EXTERIOR
Frame-on restoration
Hood is straight and fits tight
Original side curtains, very nice condition (I have never had them out of the pocket)
Tan canvas top, likely not original, excellent condition, fits tight, small tear in back along window seam
Tonneau cover, some staining
AMCO wind wings
Very small nick in paint on passenger door

ELECTRICAL
Exposed wiring harness wrapped with gaffer tape
Wiring was partially cloth covered, not sure if wiring is original or cloth-covered replacement harness
All exterior lighting works - headlamps (high & low), parking lamps, license plate lamp
Fog lamps installed, not hooked up

CHROME
New badge bar, original badge bar included
New luggage rack, OE style
New hubcaps, original hubcaps included
New bumpers and overriders, original bumpers and overriders included
Grille shell not replaced - chrome on shell and slats in excellent condition
Windshield frame has some tarnish - tried to show in photo

MISCELLANEOUS
Clean undercarriage, painted and detailed
Original tool kit not included - car did not have one when I purchased it
Many new S/S fasteners, all original fasteners identified and included
Many new seals, pads and miscellaneous small parts
Driver's manual included, along with several workshop manuals
Car cover included


Inspections are welcome, and I can easily make the car available. The car is located about 30 miles north of Traverse City, Michigan.


Buyer will be required to deposit $1, 000 via PayPal within 3 days of purchase. Remaining funds due 10 days prior to pickup via certified check or personal check. Of course, cash is also accepted!


All state and local taxes, title and registration fees are the responsibility of the buyer.


All shipping charges are the responsibility of buyer. The car will be made readily available for pickup.
