Description:

Listed on the Powell Registry as PMC-2083, which you can find online, it is the 83rd truck produced in 1955. It has steel bumpers - channel steel in front and diamond plate in the rear. This Powell does not have the optional fishing pole tube.
It has 4 new wheel cylinders & 3 new flex brake hoses installed, rebuilt brass sleeved brake master cylinder. Remote brake fluid filler mounted next to battery. New steel brake lines fabricated & new steel fuel line made from electric fuel pump all the way to the front. I refurbished the gauge cluster which is '41 Plymouth which includes an NOS amp & oil pressure gauge, new gauge stickers - resto-mod style, new gauge glass by Grandpa Dodge. new fuel sender & new fuel gauge mounted under dash. Gas tank had been boiled and sealed by previous owner.
New 3 row Champion aluminum radiator, new water pump, rebuilt Ball & Ball carb, new ignition wires, new points, plugs, condenser. New windshield & 1 side glass, new felt lined glass channels. New front & back glass gaskets. 4 new Smoothie wheels, new radial tires. New 65 amp 1 wire alternator & custom bracket, rebuilt starter, I adapted a Honda wiper motor under dash and you can find a video I made about that on YouTube and 2 more videos also about this truck.
I put expanded metal in the bed but is quite noisy driving, plywood was original. Everything under the Powell body is 1941 Plymouth except for the engine which is 1948 Dodge 230 flat head 6. I found a rebuilder's tag on the motor with these specs from the rebuild: T116-134093, rods .020, mains .020, bore + .060 Factory 1219 Manufactured by Independent Builder. I purchased this truck July 2016 and now drives dependably 4 years later. I am selling it so I can start restoring my Powell wagon. There are some videos on the Powell on YouTube including one from My Classic Car Jan 2020. Powells were built in Compton CA by Powell Manufacturing Company 1955, '56 & '57. Most all were assembled and rebuilt 1941 Plymouth car chassis. The first ones sold for under $1000 and several options were available such as the fishing pole tubes 1 or 2 installed, camper shell, and other items. The early trucks had fully opening doors like this one.
Body damage: There is rust around windshield frame, rust holes as noted in cab, somebody patched the floor. and a 2' long crack along top of right quarter panel, light bubbling along right lower door. Tail gate is included but is coated in surface rust, right inner fender is included, left door trim included, 2 headlight bezels and 2 coffee cups. Includes an extra 3 speed trans as it will pop out of gear decelerating down a hill unless you hold the lever up. All the things that make driving a Powell enjoyable besides 55mph top speed :-) We have a Powell internet group that started in 2016 with over 100 members.
