Description:

Check out this 1958 Edsel Ranger! The very rare and unique Edsel was the unfortunate marketing failure of the grandson of Henry Ford. (But the great thing about this car is that you can get Ford parts from the same year to sucessfully replace almost any part of the car.) I purchased the vehicle June of 2017 from a dealership that works on classic cars. The car is in great working condition. It starts great and drives smooth. A true joy and wow, it gets a lot of positive attention when it's out! I have used this car as a weekend driver a few miles a week in Los Angeles/Beach area (total of 2000 miles in almost 4 years). I love the way it drives and the experience of driving this car is a treat. The front driver and passenger seat fold so you can access the backseats the vehicle. It is very specious and seats four people. Trunk is extra large. Car is push-button shifting, which was revolutionary when it was built, and pretty fun! The speedometer spins, which is also a nice feature. Work Done on Car: I put about $4, 500 into improvements for the car. I had a new transmission put in the car in 2018 along with spark plugs, wires and hoses. I put two new horns in it, and a new battery as well. The car has been parked in a garage for the majority of the time I have owned it. The remainder of the engine (apart from what I replaced) is original from what I know. The alignment was recently done and tires are new, but I retained the original hubcaps. Why I am Selling: I bought the Edsel to work on it and restore it to it's original glory, but have found myself just too busy. I am now moving to work abroad for at least several years. I do not want to just park it in a garage because I am not sure when I will be back, and this beauty needs to get out and be seen! Additional Cosmetic Details: when I got the car in 2017, they did some touchups on the paint, and chrome was a bit more polished. There are some typical rust spots under the doors where water could collect at the bottom of the frame under the doors. There are various rust pits - for instance, along the left side of the headlight and some in the trunk. There is also visible sign of rust where there would be a rubber seal. My intention was to sand it down and put some rust-olem on the affected areas and seal it. The chrome bumpers are in great condition. All the lights work (high beams and low beams). Minor crack in right passenger window and larger more predominate crack in the driver main window (I accidentally shut the door with a bit too much force one time). It appears ebay has windows for sale that could replace it. I purchased a kit to automate the windshield wipers that will be included in sale of car. It mounts into the dash. The heater/inside the car radiator has been removed and will come with the car. It appears there is a tiny leak in one of the aluminum corners, so I took it out for precautionary reasons. The upholstery on the seats looks original, a bit of wear and tear on the back seat. Carpet on the floor and liner on the trunk look aftermarket. It appears to have been painted/touched up on the exterior a few times over the years. Sometimes after driving, when idled, the exhaust has a hard time getting to the back of the car. There might be some work needing to be done with this, but has not affected me. Additional Details: The Edsel comes with the original keys and an Edsel manual which I purchased after I got the vehicle. The car is currently being financed and has a couple thousand dollars left on it, but will be paying that off to release the clean title, car will be delivered with bill of sale and title mailed to address of your choice. It will be a simple process. It is registered in CA through July 2021. I did quite the registration process with the state of CA because I bought from another state. There is only one present VIN # on the vehicle. The state of CA was able to verify the VIN with the body, engine, and door mounts. It was a bit of a crazy DMV process, but that should make it easier for you and easier to transfer. Because of the age it does not need smog tests for it to be transferred. Overall, this is a gem of a vehicle and I am sad to see it go. I hope it goes to a great new owner who will enjoy it as much as I have!
