Description:

Lacking a sports car capable of competing with those of MG and Jaguar, Triumph started developing a new sports car, the TR2, which it displayed for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in March of 1953. An enormous success both at home and abroad, it was to be expected that its successor - the TR3 - would need little change. Very few changes were made to the TR2 to become the TR3, most notably the engine was upgraded to a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder mated to a 4 speed gearbox bringing the TR3 up to 95 horsepower from the TR2's previous 90 horsepower. The TR3A was then introduced in 1957 boasting a new cylinder head, again boosting horsepower to 100 horsepower, addition of Girling front disc brakes and an updated grille. The TR3A remains one of the most popular, good looking and fun Triumphs to drive.
Offered here is a very nice example of a 1959 Triumph TR3A finished in red with a black interior. Complete with an original jack, original side curtains and sporty chrome knockoff wire wheels. The engine is accessorized with a finned aluminum valve cover and complimented by a very tidy engine compartment. The paint and chrome are in great condition and shows extremely well. Overall a vey solid car that runs and drives great. Always well kept and maintained this TR3 is ready to be shown or driven on the open road.
