1960 Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina

With a column shifter and funky Italian good looks, this Berlina Super 2000 is the perfect cruiser for any European car collector. The 2000 uses unibody construction and a conventional front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. The engine is an enlarged 1975cc version of the 1900´s inline-four cylinder The cast iron block and aluminum head engine produces 104 hp at 5300 rpm using a single downdraft Solex carburettor. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed gearbox, with synchromesh on all forward speeds.
This Alfa Super left the factory on 17th of June, 1960 and was sold on June 23 in Loro Ciuffenna, near Arezzo, in Italy. Its color then was griogio alba, which is the color that the car wears currently too. It was in a significant Alfa collection from 2002 until 2014, when it was purchased by it's current and only third owner and imported to the USA.
This rare sedan is in a very good state of preservation with only “sympathetic” restoration. According to previous sales descriptions, it was repainted in it's original color approximately 12 years ago. It has certainly been well maintained by it's previous and current owners. The body is in a healthy condition overall, with some minor imperfections; the chrome too is in good condition, though slightly pitted in places. The cabin is in beautiful condition, with an array of impeccable seats covered in blue cloth and leather imitation, which are in very good condition, along with very well preserved rubber mats on the floor. The odometer shows 10, 478km and the car comes with a Voxson radio.
Condition is maybe best summed up in this Sports Car Market review by Editor Keith Martin from 2014, when purchased for $27, 500 by the current owner at Artcurial's Solo Alfa sale at Retromobile Paris, “Rare surviving example of this very Trans-Atlantic sedan. The chrome trim and fins, wide bench seat and dash layout scream America! But very few were ever sold here. I love these cars and once again was sorely tempted. I resisted, and it sold exactly where I would have expected.”
