This is a magnificent example of the sedan Jaguar sport, which allowed the brand to become a forerunner of this type of car. Small luxury sedan, powerful engine, nervous car and aggressive pace. A small sedan, more powerful than many sports cars, its era and in my opinion the most beautiful sports sedan in the history of the automobile.
With its powerful 3.8L engine, automatic transmission, servo brakes, servo steering and four-wheel disc brakes, this car has a high level of refinement for the time.
I bought this car in 2000, it was functional. The car counted as 69, 500 miles. According to the records I would be the third owner, a judge from Kingston, Ontario, then a collector and finally me.
I undertook a complete restoration which took place over 7 years. I brought the certificate of authenticity from Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust in England to know all the details of this car. The restoration, at the level of competition, was carried out with specialists in English mechanics and by a seasoned coachbuilder.
The original Costwoold Blue color, trimmed with a red leather interior, is an unusual combination. This was not included in the company's color chart, it was certainly a special order. Built in October 1960, it was delivered to the parent company of Jaguar Canada in Toronto at the end of that year. This car was probably a presentation car for the 1961 Canadian car shows because the certificate does not present any details of the first buyer.
Each part was disassembled, cleaned and refurbished. The bodywork was mounted on a rotisserie and stripped to bare metal, bodywork sheets that were excessively corroded were replaced by original parts. The engine, transmission, differential, brakes, steering, electricity, servo brake, servo steering, chrome, everything was restored to new. The car has only 2, 480 miles since its restoration. The serial numbers are corresponding. The leathers of the front seats are new, I kept the back seat intact, as it showed no damage and allows to keep a small cachet of originality. The woodwork has been carefully sanded and varnished according to the rules of the art.
I added new spokes wheels (essential element on such a car) mounted on Vredestein classic tires and more I have a set of 5 steel wheels in the car color mounted with tires Goodyear4 vintage nylon folds.
This car is a quality contest and won a few honors in Stowe, Vermont and Kingston, Ontario, where she won the Best of Show.
It was evaluated by professionals with the A1 rating.
