Beautiful ground up restoration 1961 Metropolitan Convertible. Tier 1/ near concours restoration. Over 1000 pictures document the 5 year process. Has only 150 miles on complete restoration. I can send pictures and video of cars process through the restoration. Car was completed with original, NOS, and correct reproduction parts. Complete car was disassembled, walnut shell blasted and painted in original Berkshire green and Frost White. Paint is a 10/10. Interior 10/10. Mechanicals 10/10. Underneath 10/10. Engine restored to original green and red fan. Air filter uses dry element now. Dash, engine braces, transmission brace, trim, steering components, Weather eye heater are all Gloss Black powder coated. New, complete, Interior back to original black and white. Currently car sports all the 54-55 Nash emblems, Grill, spare tire cover, hubcaps, horn button, Airflite ash try, amber tail lights. I have a complete set of 'M' emblems, Grill, Hubcaps, spare tire cover, ashtray, horn button, red tail lights if you want to convert it back. The car sports the rare 54-55 hood with scoop. Everything works, heater, blinkers, lights, wipers. New windshield. Tires have 150 miles on them. Radio was updated to an AM/FM mp3 that used the original box and knobs and looks original. I have a working original AM radio that goes with it that can be installed.
These cars did not come originally with side mirrors. I have a set of new correct aftermarket mirrors that can be installed by new owner. I wanted to keep the car more original.
Rear end gears were updated from the original 4.22 to 3.73. This gives it much better high end performance that allows it to keep up with highway traffic. New brake components. New digital voltage regulator, generator, coil. New Petronix Electronic ignition. Converted spin on oil filter. New recored three row radiator. New complete exhaust systemAll rubber replaced. New convertible top and boot. Many other parts and services have been completed. Has the original Austin Healy 1500, High Compression, 55 hp with 3 speed. True Factory Convertible.
Only 853 Metropolitans were made in 1961, about 200 convertibles. $1000 deposit due within 24 hours of end of auction.
