1963 Lincoln Continental
The Story:
Up for sale is my beloved 1963 Lincoln Continental. Originally finished in Silver Mink over black interior was repainted white at some point in its life. These cars are becoming all but non-existant. I bought this car with plans to restore, but then found a convertible, which I bought a few days later (always the case, isn’t it?)
Condition:
The Good
The car is very complete, which is important when buying one of these because the parts are so scarce. The rear floor pans and trunk floor are near mint with factory paint still shining throughout. The Interior is intact and restorable; rear seat is beautiful. The engine runs well, though i only ran it off a gas can for a minute or so. The tires are nearly new, and the exhaust and fuel tank appear to be sound upon visual inspection. Brake pedal is firm and I can hear the brake shoes engage when depressed. The lights seem to be working with the exception of a few burn out bulbs. Dash lights up, gas gauge reads with key on and blower motor runs. The car passed New York state safety inspection in 2014, which leads me to believe the car was on the road in the last couple of years.
The Bad
The car has rust problems as you can see from the pictures. Looking under the car, the frame looks solid. The worst areas are the rear quarters and trunk lid. The front floor pans need to be patched. There are other smaller areas throughout the exterior sheet metal that will need addressed. Driver’s side window broken. All power windows need attention.
Summary:
I cannot stress enough that this car needs a full restoration. If you’d like a restored one, then be prepared to pay out well into the $20K range. If you’d like to get one and put a little sweat equity into it, you can have the same result at 1/2 the cost. As a last resort, triple your money parting it out. I watched a front bumper go for $1500 and a steering wheel $300 just last week. Any way you look at it, you can’t lose with this one.
Sold with bill of sale only. Do not commit to buying if you cannot pay the deposit in 24 hours or less, the balance in 7 days or less and pick up the car in 14 days or less. Buyer responsible for all shipping charges, however I have several transporters I deal with and would be happy to share my contacts with the buyer. Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
