Description:

Here is a rare opportunity to own a special GM car. These cars were made back when GM had so much money, they were constantly experimenting to keep their name at the forefront. These '63 Olds Jetfires were quite a feat. Factory 215 V8 engine with a turbocharger and alcohol injection. This one has the very desirable 4 speed transmission and the super rare Antique Rose paint.
Many of these cars experienced problems in the day, and Oldsmobile recalled them and sent a letter to the owners requesting them to bring the car in to the dealer and have the entire system removed and changed over to the common 4V carburetor. Many owners responded, since the dealers were informed that the warranty on the car would only be honored if the system was changed over. I don't recall ever having a problem with this one, so I would believe it shoul work well with a little tuning and testing. The few original survivors, especially with a 4 speed, are rarely seen today with restored examples bringing well over $50K.
I have owned this car for 18 years and has been parked in my barn for 15 years...This is the REAL barn find, not a pretend one...yep, found it in my own barn after a 15 year hiatus! I parked it years ago because I was tired of small cars at my 6'3 height. I have decided to let it go to a new home, since it obviously was deteriorating slowly and I have not given it the care it has needed. It was covered for 15 years in the barn (see the latest 2002 sticker on plate) It was purchased new in San Francisco and still resides in the area. I purchased it from the original owner in 1998.
I pulled it out of the barn, installed a battery, turned the engine a few times, filled the gas and wooosh!, off it fired. It ran rough a bit for being asleep for so long, but the longer it ran, the more it smoothed out, just like I remembered it. I put in brake fluid and cleaned her off and took it for a small drive. The car has been asleep for a long time, so it will need to be trailered to take away. Brakes are not great and it needs a good thorough service. Everything needs to be checked like belts, hoses, etc. it shifts fine and steers fine.
I showed some pics of the super cool light that shows me that the 'Turbo rocket fluid' is low! Note the jar of extra fluid under the hood. (Look closely for the bottle with the lid that says 'turbo rocket fluid')All the turbo/alcohol system is completely intact under the hood. The interior is complete and original but starting to get brittle, and needs a good detail to clean it out. The body is very goo. I showed the rust spots around the window that need repair. The under-carriage is very, very clean and the trunk is also good. The paint shines up very well, I was very surprised at how fresh it looks. I don't know if the paint is original or not. If it is a repaint, it is an incredible job with a perfect match, texture, and no over-spray anywhere, so it could clean up well with a weekend of TLC.
Check out 'before' pics!
I also have accumulated a lot of extra parts for this car, some nice used and NOS trim, clutch, shocks, weatherstrip, engine goodies, etc. I will include them with the car. This is a fabulous car I am going to miss when it goes, and it would be a very easy restoration for the right person.
