Price: US $59,900.00
Reluctantly offered is my personal 1965 Mustang G.T. 350 replica. Cars like this don’t come up for sale
often. As explained below, be confident you'll not find another like it. Please read description carefully, look at the pictures and email me direct at iom_traveler@yahoo.com if you have a question.
This car was built and owned for 30 years by a military and CA sheriff's
department pilot of distinction, a decorated Vietnam veteran and
genuine American hero. You wouldn’t
expect a combat pilot who regularly risked his life in a shooting war to
come home to build something boring and this car assuredly isn't. Dick was excited about this car and during his
lengthy ownership, this A code factory V8 4-speed fastback was an on-going
southern California hot rod project that included JBA, Ford engineers, SAAC and
Cobra Club members. They all just kept working on it over the years to get it they way he wanted. There was no detail too small, nothing was
overlooked and the car maintained to aircraft standards. Just like genuine GT 350's, this car is no boulevard cruiser. It runs and drives exactly like a real 1965 GT 350/GT 350R, and with brake, suspension and engine upgrades, at speed it will outperform any stock 1965 GT 350/GT 350R. It has never been hit and until I lately acquired it, it had been registered only in California. Up until a few years
ago, it had run about 2 open tracks and maybe 5 shows a year... lots of trophies. R serial
number means San Jose car. Color is correct for 1965 350’s as are the painted on rocker and over the top Le
Mans stripes. Naturally no
rust or panels replaced. We think the car hasn't seen rain in over
25 years and I don't even THINK about taking it out if rain is in the forecast and no dirt roads either. Glass and
chrome nice but not new. Paint redone back in late 1990's is good but not perfect. Engine has a big list, all good parts... this is no crate motor. Mexican 302 block bored to 306 cu
inches. Program Engineering Caps, steel crank and Boss rods with ARP 8740
Bolts. Melling blueprinted pump and 10 quart Canton road race pan. Shelby
oil filter cooler adapter with 11 by 9 G & J aircraft
cooler. All lines Aircraft. Cylinder heads are Ford 351 cast iron
reworked by Juan Mendoza at Flow Tech. Valves 202/160 Manley
Stainless. Comp Billet Roller Cam with Comp Roller Rockers. Edelbrock aluminum intake, Holley 650 blueprinted double pumper. Ignition
is Ford Autolite blue printed with Pertronix II ignitor and coil. Naturally brass gear and MSD wires cut to fit. Here’s the interesting
part… built it about 15 years ago and freshened it up about 5 years ago. It was perfect then and runs fantastic now. I don't think the car got to run more
than 2000 miles a year, if that. Which means the fresh engine 5 years ago only
has about 10, 000 miles at most, likely less. When the engine was dynoed back then it was a hair over 350 HP at 6500 on 91 octane pump gas (9.3:1
compression). One other interesting thing about the engine… it was built
by Larry Molicone (Auto Dynamics). If you don't know the name, he has
been building some of the fastest race engines for over 65 years. He's 84
now and you can watch him doing engines on The BIG RED Original Outlaw
Racer program on TV. This is RJ Gotliebs famous Camaro. The engine
is extremely dependable. Transmission is a wide ratio toploader with
original Ford shifter. The trans was went through when the engine was done. It didn't need anything. At that time the clutch was switched to a McLeod
street twin. Two 10 inch disc. Extremely dependable and easy pedal
pressure. Rear is Versailles 9 inch Ford. 31 spline axles and dual circuit Ford disc
brakes. The 3:25 gears work great on open tracks with wide ratio
trans gears and keep your RPM's down on the freeway. Exhaust is coated
Doug headers and nice 2-1/2” system with X-pipe and glass packs which '65
Shelby's used. Suspension has all the tricks. Global West Stage 5 on steroids.
Koni Shocks all 4 corners. These SoCal car guys are seriously into vintage racing and
ALL the race tricks are in this car. The nice part is the soft suspension set
up and it's great on the street. BFG radial GT's on original Shelby Cragar's for nice ride on
the street. If you want to open track, switch to seven inch wide Americans and
600/15 Goodyear Racing Sports Car Specials and you will be impressed. Most people looking at this car are convinced it’s a genuine '65 GT 350. Please examine the pictures carefully and if you have a question, email me direct at iom_traveler@yahoo.com and include your telephone
number if you would like me to call.
Included in the sale are books, extra keys, fitted car cover and a binder containing various documents and brochures.
The '65 Mustang Fastback is a distinctive and iconic mid-sixties design. Some say it's the '32 Ford of another generation, inspiring lots of
wild custom and show cars and there's likely never been a SEMA show without at least one. Because everyone thinks this one is the real thing, it attracts tons of attention. The car is an absolute blast to drive on the
street and open track and is assuredly as
nice a car as you would want to actually drive with none of the guilt you would
have if it were a real 1965 Shelby G.T. 350. You’re welcome to come and look, just email me
your contact info. We will be glad to help with you with shipping. If you are
flying in, we can pick you up at the airport. Would I be afraid to drive
it home?
NOT AT ALL!

“The condition of this vehicle is exceptional. It has always got anything it needed. It has just the right patina to appear period correct and original. EVERYONE thinks it’s a real 1965 GT 350. It is not a “K” code but an “A” code, factory 4-speed car. Engine runs great and trans shifts smooth. Rear end is 9" Versailles with 3:25 gears and posi. Suspension is highly track-able and super on the street. Body and paint are way too good to redo. Engine, trans, diff and suspension need nothing. Lights, gauges, wipers, horn, heater, etc all function properly. Interior is complete and nice. If you are into stereos this isn't your car. AM/FM Cassette and I've only turned it on to see if it plays (it does). Headers and glass packs are noisy and correct. This car is completely sorted and requires absolutely NO fettling. Just get in and drive. Please look over the photos carefully and email me direct iom_traveler@yahoo.com if you have a question or send your phone number if you prefer to call.” |
