This is a project car. This is a 50 yr. old car, while it is solid, it needs repair. I have owned it for about 5 yrs. It has been stored inside the entire time. I believe it was stored inside prior also. It is a very solid car. The frame and drive train have not been modified or hacked up. This car is a very unique and a really nice find! Except for the lousy paint job, it's still all original! This car can be re-done any way you wish. I placed a low reserve, just because I'm not going to give it away. Send me an e-mail if it doesn't sell. I will consider offers. This is truly a great place to start if someone wanted to make a cool, unique hot rod. When you get right down to the nitty gritty, it's unique, it'll turn heads, most people don't even know what it is and it's a true expression of your personality. What's under the hood doesn't seem to matter anymore as long as it sounds good and runs like it was stolen! LOL!
The floor pans and trunk floor are in very good condition, they will not need to be replaced. All exterior panels are solid. There is rust on the bottom of the quarter panels. Someone did some repair there, but it needs to be redone. There is a dent in the roof over the drivers door about 18 square. It does not affect the windshield or the window operation. The roof drain rail is not damaged either. The dent is strictly on the roof. The remainder of the body appears to be in very good condition. With the lousy flat black paint job it's hard to tell if there are any minor dings, but there are no visible major dents or damage.
The original six cylinder engine does start and run. The trans needs repaired, it doesn't know what gear it's in and changes without warning! It nearly ran me over when I started it, LOL! Everything on the car appears to be original. It has been painted flat black by a questionable painter prior to my possession. I haven't done any work to the car, just haven't had the opportunity.
All of the Marlin Specific chrome is removed and it goes with the car. The questionable painter did not know how to remove the chrome, so it needs repaired. Two pieces of chrome for the windshield are missing, I believe that it could be acquired from one of the body styles in the same year, they all look to be the same to me. The Marlin emblem for the trunk is with the car, the emblems from the sides of the front fenders are missing. Some of the cast chrome trim is corroded and will need work.
The interior panels, seats, etc., go with the car. The front seats are in good shape and complete, the back seats are there but the covers don't match and all seats will need to be re-covered. The headliner was removed but the fiberglass side trim goes with the car. The door handles, window crank handles and even the keys are included. There are no hubcaps. All the glass is there. The windshield is showing some lamination separation in the center at the bottom. The bumpers are in pretty good shape. They're not rusted or dented, just aged some.
These cars were very unique, there were only about 7, 500 made in the three years they were produced. The 65's were built under the Rambler name, the 66's & 67's were built under the AMC label. While they are rare, there are Marlins out there if you look for them. They either seem to be project cars or beauties, there doesn't seem to be any in the middle. Parts are out there if you look for them. Lots of the parts from the other body styles fit the Marlin, only the body panels appear to be different. The front fenders and the front end trim is the same as the other body styles.
