This is a very rare car in the US. The Fiat Barchetta (Type 183) is a roadster produced by the Italian manufacturer from 1995 to 2002. Barchetta in Italian means little boat, and also denotes a type of open-top sports car body style. The Barchetta was developed between 1990 and 1994 under the project name Tipo B Spider 176. Production began in February 1995 and lasted until June 2002. The Barchetta has 1747 cc DOHC engine fitted with variable camshaft timing, used for the first time in a Fiat production car. The engine has 132 PS (97 kW; 130 hp) and 164 N·m (121 lb·ft) of torque. Front wheel drive. Five speed manual transmission. The Barchetta weighs 1056 kg (2328 lb) without air conditioning and can accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.8 seconds and has a top speed of 200 km/h (125 mph).
The Fiat type 183 Barchetta was Fiat reentry to the convertible or spider car market and a challenge in Europe to the popular Mazda MX5 from Japan. The Barchetta is inspired in the 1948 Ferrari 166MM Barchetta, an important car in the Ferrari history. The first Ferrari production car and the first Ferrari winner in Le Mans in 1949. You can see the side lines in the body, and the rounded back. Also the door handles are retro style.
The production began at the Maggiora plant, close to Turin in 1995. The bodies were painted at Bertone´s plant and then returned for final assembly to Maggiora plant. Built on the Fiat Punto floor pan and fitted with the 1747cc twin overhead cam engine with Fiat variable valvetiming. These engines are very reliable as well as lively andresponsive. This model has a firm chassis and very good panel fit. These handassembled sports cars are great fun to drive. Production ceased at the Maggiora factory in 2002 and production was moved to Fiat´s Mirafiori plant where a face lift model or phase II was built until 2005.
With distinctive retro style this car is a piece of modern italian art and a beautiful modern classic car.

This car chassis number ZFA18300000005506 was sold new in Germany in 1996. In 2007 the car was sold to Spain. This second owner was a man that bought the car to his wife. Now the car has been imported from Europe to the United States and needs a thrird owner. Car comes with Spanish papers and US customs forms, so you can register the car in your State without problems.
