1966 Lotus Cortina Mk 1
A windows-out refinish in the factory Ermine White with Sherwood Green accents . The chrome trim and bumpers were replated, and the aluminum grille was polished at the time of the repaint, as were the headlight and taillight bezels. Other work included corrosion repair in the battery-tray area and replacement of door, window, and trunk seals along with fitment of a new windshield. Lotus emblems are mounted to the grille and rear fenders, while features include one-piece bumpers, a full-width grille, and aeroflow outlets in the rear quarters.
13″ steel wheels with stainless-steel dog-dish hubcaps wear 185/70 Kumho tires showing date codes from 2015. Recent work have included a brake-system refurbishment and fitment of a new exhaust system. A set of 13″ Minilite-style wheels with older tires is also included in the sale.
The interior was reportedly refurbished under previous ownership and features black vinyl with matching carpets and plastic trim.
Factory instrumentation is mounted in a brushed-aluminum panel and includes a 140-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and a series of Lucas and Smiths auxiliary gauges in the center of the dash. Approximately 65k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer.
The 1, 557cc Lotus twin-cam four-cylinder was rated at 105 horsepower when new and was fitted with a replacement engine block during a 1990 rebuild by Crowther Racing Engines formerly of Petaluma, California. The twin side-draft Weber 40DCOE carburetors were rebuilt in early 2019, and a new battery was installed in July 2019. Other recent work included fitment of braided stainless-steel fuel lines, a new thermostat, an oil change.
