Hey there, Mini fanatic! Have you been looking for a fun way to spend countless hours in your garage/shop this winter? I have the project for you.
I have come to the conclusion, after nearly 20 years of ownership and 3 moves (garage to garage to garage), that I will never get around to restoring this 1967 Austin Mini Moke.
The way you see it is the way I got it -- already disassembled, with some attempts made at starting to address the rusty floors.
The good:
--I have clear paperwork for it (official Washington State affadavit in lieu of title from previous owner).
--As far as I can tell, more or less everything is there (except for the canvas roof):
--body, including hood and screw-down access panels (see the pics)
--front subframe and rear (rebuilt) subframe
--engine and transmission (850cc, likely the original)
--gas tank, all 4 seats, hoops for the convertible top, wiring harness, 4 stock steel wheels with ancient tires and banged-up hubcaps
--2 boxes of miscellaneous parts, including the speedo (in itsdashboard), headlight buckets, taillight sockets, bezels, and at least some lenses, steering column cover (though I didn't notice the steering column itself), shift lever with knob, voltage regulator, master cylinders, pedal box, hand brake, coil, fuel pump, battery cables, and a few new bits like the rubber plugs that go in the bumpers, some genuine Lucas reflectors, rubber hood hold-downs, and a roll of some sort of weatherstripping. -- every single piece of glass (in other words, the windshield in its frame) is there
The bad:
-- body has rust, and the floors are particularly swiss-cheesy
-- gas tank is rusted out
-- it's someone else's started project, and a few pieces are likely to be missing
The Moke is currently sitting (on its side) in my garage, surrounded by its seats, subframes, exhaust, windshield, wheels, steering wheel, and totes of miscellaneous parts. Other than a few key Moke-specific parts, almost every piece of this vehicle is plain old Austin Mini (1959-1999), so parts are widely available. If you don't want to painstakingly weld up all the tiny little holes in the floor, repro floor panels are available from the UK.
I have no idea what this project is worth, so I'm letting you decide in this no-reserve auction.
I will be out of town all of Thanksgiving week, so it will need to be retrieved the week the auction closes (Nov 15-20) or the week after Thanksgiving ( Nov 28-Dec 6). I don't have the ability to transport it, so that's up to you. It's not a big car -- one of its moves (local) was made in the back of a full-size pickup, but I think it was 2 trips. The biggest/most unwieldy piece is the engine/transmission/front subframe. You could make this a little less unwieldy and heavy by pulling the power unit out of the subframe before moving the pieces.
