Sabra
Super Rare! Only 171 Produced! Maybe 41 exported to USA!
Autocars Co. LTD of Haifa, Israel
Collectors
today think of post war sports cars being manufactured in the United States, England, Germany or France, but there were other countries that were producing
post war sports cars. One of the
relatively unknown but well designed and highly collectible sports cars is the
1967 Sabra manufactured by Autocars Co. LTD of Israel. It is interesting to know that the name translated is “born in
Israel” and cactus, which was its logo.
In
1961 at the New York Auto Show, the first Sabra’s were introduced. Only 41 of them are thought to have been exported to the USA. To tell you how rare this car is, only 171
were actually produced before the production was stopped for the Six-Day
War. The car was manufactured in two
versions; one was the coupe and the second was the desirable roadster. These cars were very light in weight, approximately 1, 800 pounds with fiberglass bodies and Triumph supplied
engines. The U.S. imports apparently
show a total somewhere between 40 and 70 cars being imported. These cars were also popular in Belgium and
the United Kingdom.
The
Sabra convertible in this ad is close to pristine and if you are looking for an
unusual sports car for your collection or just want to drive around in this
rare collectible to attract a lot of attention. The Sabra Sports soft top sports car in this ad could be just the car
that you are looking for. eightfourseven, sevensevenfour, foureightfiveseven. 4 wheel independent suspension, front wheel brakes. The 81, 476 miles is believed to be original but no documentation. Original radio/cassette.
Interesting
to note that while the Sabra cars were listed as being Israeli cars, much of
the manufacturing was done in England.
Be
that as it may, how many collectors or collections can lay claim to having a Sabra. Take a look at the photos in this eBay
listing and we are sure that most collectors will agree that the car is not
only attractive but one of the most unusual collectible post war sports car
that you can find anywhere. Just about
everything is 99% original to this car, including the 4-wheel independent
suspension and the front disk brakes. VERY RARE!
