The Series 1 XKE Jaguar is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful cars of all time. The flowing lines and exceptional proportions give it a fantastic aesthetic. They exhibit excellent performance and handling derived from their D- Type racing heritage.
The Series 1 cars, which are by far the most valuable, essentially fall into two categories: Those made between 1961 and 1964, which had 3.8 litre engines and non-synchromesh transmissions, and those made between 1965-1967, which increased engine size and torque by around 10%, added a fully synchronised transmission, and also provided new reclining seats. “The 4.2 became the most desirable version of the famous E-Type due to their increased power and usability while retaining the same outward appearance as the earlier cars.”
This example was delivered new to Ontario Canada. Its second owner brought it to the USA and repainted the car in its original color of British Racing Green. The car has had only 3 owners since new and retains its original, numbers matching engine, cylinder head and drive train. The odometer shows 58, 331 miles and it is believed to be correct.
The engine runs smooth with plenty of power and a great sound. The transmission shifts smoothly and has recently received a new clutch. The carburetors have been rebuilt and polished and work superbly. The bumpers have been rechromed and look like new. The wire wheels are also fresh along with the steel belted radial tires.
The paint and body present as a very good driver. Age and use over the past 18 years since it was painted, hasn’t detracted from its great look but it no longer looks fresh and has various imperfections.
The interior is magnificent. It has been expertly restored and looks showroom new. The steering wheel has also been thoroughly restored and is exceptional. The tool roll, spare tire, books and records are all present.
