Here is an Original 1968 Shelby GT500. This vehicle was purchased as a personal car for one of the owners of Perogie Enterprises in the late 1980's and has been sitting in dry storage since. This is an early 1968 model and is the 155th Shelby produced in that year. It is Lime Gold Metallic ( Green ) with a Black interior. This has been registered in the Shelby Regisrty. It has the original 428 Police Interceptor engine and RUG-S 4 Speed Toploader Manual Transmission both have been totally rebuilt as well as the 3.50 31 spline Nodular case differential. The body was completely disassembled ( engine, transmission, rear housing, complete interior and all of the suspension were removed ) then put on a rotisserie, fully media blasted and inspected for defects. Although the floor pans were fairly solid they had spots of rust so we decided to replace with a one piece full floor pan ( both sides front and back ). Both quarter panels were replaced. The doors, roof, metal taillight panel, shock towers, front and rear engine compartment aprons, cowl, radiator support and frame rails are all originals. The front fenders are clean original Ford units and the trunk floors were replaced with NOS Ford panels. The bottom side of the car was sprayed with with red oxide primer. The rear leaf springs were media blasted and painted and are the originals with the C7ZA stamping numbers in them. The original 9” rear housing was stripped and painted. The original 31 spline axles have been cleaned, checked, detailed and have new bearings. The engine compartment was media blasted painted in etch primer and then in urethane primer ready for paint. The front suspension has new upper and lower control arms, front spring saddles with refinished original front springs. The body is essentially ready for paint with all the hard grunt work already accomplished.
The original 428 Police interceptor short block was sent to Philadelphia Racing Engines for shot peening, cleaning, inspection, tolerance checking, block boring, Magnafluxing, cam bearing installation, crankshaft polishing, rotating assembly balancing and more. NOS Ford C8AE-H 428PI cylinder heads with NOS Ford intake and exhaust valves and 428PI valve springs with new Competition Cam valve spring retainers and keepers were installed . This has an Original Ford 428PI Aluminum 4V intake manifold with the correct C7AE engineering number. The engine was primered with self etch and ready for final paint. Not yet installed is a rebuilt C8OF-D distributor and a rebuilt replacement Carter fuel pump. Also included are the original valve covers and air cleaner assembly.
