1968 Triumph TR250 US North America
delivered in September 1968.
Last known owner prior to the current owner
was an individual in Phoenix Arizona,
that Title is dated from November 2001.
The purchase includes the British Motor
Industry Heritage Trust Certificate.
The current owner acquired the car in July of 2011 and embarked on a 4 ½ year
extensive and very detailed frame off
restoration. Close attention to detail
and accuracy was given this build with the help of the current owners other low
mileage unrestored, unmolested survivor TR250 being used as a reference car.
The virtually rust free body was hand
stripped and media blasted and all sheet metal was repaired and refitted to the
tub. Great care was given to insure all
panels and gaps were sharp and straight. A period correct aluminum Surrey back lite
with glass window and steel center section was fitted and includes a mohair
canvas surrey. All surfaces were than sealed, primed than painted with correct
single stage Valencia Blue enamel. All
trim and body rubbers are as new, stainless fender beads are new and properly
painted, all chrome parts have been re-chromed.
All system components throughout are new or painstakingly rebuilt, wiper motor, steering column, Heater and blower, and so on.
Interior is leather faced seats and wool
carpet from John Skinner in the UK.
Wood dash was re-skinned and crash pads
replaced with new. Original steering wheel included along with the Moto-Lita steering wheel currently installed.
The engine was dismantled checked for
clearances , cleaned , ARP rod and head bolts installed with new gaskets and
seals . All engine components are standard size, oil pressure (75 cold 30 hot )and compression ( 160 Psi.
). A 150 HP cam shaft with new lifters was installed at the time. Car is equipped with the correct A-Type
electric overdrive.
The frame was sand blasted and refinished
with black frame paint, all suspension components are new or rebuilt. Springs
are Richard Good lower and higher ratio to give the car a (in my opinion better
stance) adjustable trailing arm brackets were used to correct rear wheel
geometry . New steering rack and uprated
front spindles along with all new front suspension bushings new ball joints and
trunnions.
Wheels are a reproduction of the dealer
option American Racing Silverstones
The redline tires were returned to vendor
due to balancing issues and a set of 205 65R 15 black wall tires were
installed.
There are more photographs of the
restoration for the asking and a file folder full of receipts . The current
owner will assist with shipping and also important to note , because the car was
imported from the USA it is a fairly simpler process to reimport the car back to the US.
