MG C Coupe (1969)
for sale
Price: US $2,550.00
Price: US $2,550.00
Up for auction is a 1969 MGC-GT. The
car is well sorted. Presently, it is
best described as a solid, daily driver in good to very good condition that you
would not be ashamed to drive to a car show. Alternatively, it could be fully restored rather easily. The floor boards, doglegs, rocker panels, trunk, frame, and undercarriage are rust free. The body panels and doors are straight and align
well. The transmission is solid and shifts easily through
all gears without a hitch or grind. The
overdrive is in good working order. The
brakes are fine. No leaks. The 2.9 liter 6 cylinder engine, overdrive and
suspension makes for enjoyable cruising at highway speeds. The car easily obtains speed and is capable of
100+ mph. Try that in a MGB. This
summer the car was fitted with new gas tank, fuel sending unit, solid state fuel
pump, fuel lines, fuel filter, distributor and cap, coil, plug wires along with
rebuilt carburetors ($2, 500). Other
recent work include new water pump and brake servo unit. The leather seats and dash are in excellent
condition. The gauges (tack, speedo, temp., signals) are in good working order as are the wipers and blower. Externally, the paint is in very good condition. Glass is clear and chrome bumpers are in nice
shape. The 15 inch wire wheels are well balanced (no shake or vibration at speed). What if left to be done? The interior is about 90-95% complete. The interior panels, and door seals are relatively new. Carpeting is fine but floor covering and mats
could be replaced. The previous owner replaced the headliner
but not the bits that frame the headliner in the seat area. The
heater/defroster and vent control mechanisms work but the knobs need to be
replaced.
The car is being sold as is and without warranty. To the best of my knowledge, I have tried to present the good with bad. I cannot verify the mileage shown on the odometer. Remember the
car is 58 years old. If you have
questions please send a message. If you
are considering a MGC , you probably know the history. With the limited
number produced and shipped to the U.S., prices are increasing. Please compare to others on the market. Given the condition and recent
work, the reserve is very reasonable. I purchased the car for the driving
experience not an investment. I have enjoyed driving the car without any illusions about recouping the cost of ownership. I have other MGs but not the time to attend
and drive them as needed. So, I am
thinning the herd until another car catches my fancy. I would like to see the car go to someone
that can maintain, appreciate, and enjoy the vehicle. The
car is being advertised locally. I
reserve the right to cancel the auction if sold.
