1970 Datsun 240z Series 1 White 904 on rare Blue interior. All of the original parts specific to the Series 1 are still there. It is a Numbers matching car and still has the original E31 head, 2400 valve cover, Steering wheel without the holes in spoke, metal vs plastic emblems, speedometer that starts at 20mph mark vs 0, etc..
Mechanically it runs very well and starts very easily with or without the aid of the choke.. The suspension is very smooth and there are no rattles or clunking. I have added a refurbished new factory Hitachi Alternator, new take off Kyosan Denki Fuel Pump, NOS Hitachi voltage regulator, a brand new battery and a new radiator. The shifter has some play from side to side but shifts very well. I have a brand new shifter bushing I will include with the sale. The motor is very strong, powerful and the Z is still very quick.
The paint has scratches and dings on most panels. Most of the dings are on the hood and roof. It's a 10 footer and looks good over all. See pic
The floors and frame rails are very solid with some very minor rust at the end of the frame rail tips as you can see form the pictures. There is no undercoating typically found on 240z's so it makes it very easy to tell the condition. Both quarter panel wheel lip edges and dog legs have been replaced in the past and you can see about 3 rust on the lowest portion of the inner dog leg. See pics.
There is some rust bubbling underneath the engine plate plaque about 1-1.5. See pic
The battery tray is solid has only very clean surface rust where the paint has come off. See pic
The interior is pretty well preserved overall and the seats have been recovered at some point in time. The dash has 3 clean cracks above the three center gauges.and some webbing on the glove compartment side. The original Radio is there with working Antenna. The radio works from time to time. The RPM gauge is stuck at 3K mark and is not functional. Also, the clock does not work.
I have installed a direct plugin upgrade modern fuse box from Motorsport Auto but have the original clean condition long pigtail fuse box included with the car. Its a simple plug in option so there was no wiring involved.
All 5 original Steel wheels including the original 4 D hub caps are included. Hub caps are very straight with no damage. See pic
The headlights, signal, hazards, taillights all illuminate very strong and are very bright with the help of the updated fuse box. Usually Z's of this age have very dim, slow signaling lighting.
Its a very good first year 240z and a joy to drive as is, or do a ground up restoration on. I am only selling it because I currently own 4 Z's, and with my other toys, the garage is just too cramped to enjoy. I will gladly take it to any 3rd party shop at buyers choice/expense within 10-15 miles from my location to have it inspected.
