There is enough stuff
here to completely do a Javelin into an AMX clone and you will have lots of
stuff left over. I parted out 3 Javelins
in the last 15 years and purchased a completely dismantled AMX as well. I never went through some of the boxes. The green AMX interior is really nice. I know it limits your color choice, but that
stuff can be vinyl dyed. The grill
screen is nice and can be used as is. The plastic grill bucket will need some restoration work, but most of
these have disappeared as they are VERY fragile. One of the 360 shortblocks came out of a 74
AMX, the other is out of a jeep. You
have the most important thing to do a 71 Javelin: NOS taillights. They are a one year only item and nobody makes
a reproduction. You CANNOT find them
ANYWHERE. I have maybe seen 2 or 3 sets
for sale on ebay in 15 years of hoarding. These are unobtanium and I mean it. The factory installed ones deteriorated and the used ones look rough
(they are close to 50 years old). You
will not find them. If there was one
thing I want keep out of this, it would be the taillights. I want to put them on a shelf in my living room and stare at them. You
will need to have the taillight housings rechromed, they are pitted. One of the cowl induction hoods is in really
good shape, the other needs work. Most
of the fenders look good, the set on the car are immaculate. The doors on the car are in great shape. The rimblow horn will need work (most
do). Factory tilt is rare on one of these. You will need probably two rigs to haul all
this stuff. I would recommend a cattle
trailer for most of the parts and another truck/trailer for the car. If you can figure out how to haul it all in
one trip, be my guest. The car has
crappy tires that will hold enough air to move onto a trailer, but that is
it. As far as body work, like I said, I
was going to put the full quarters on it, (btw, these came from the west
coast-you also cannot find full quarters for these cars and nobody makes a full
quarter replacement) but I did a good job on the patch panels if you wanted to
keep them. Other than that, there is no
rust in the trunk and the floor still looks great. The car did have a partial vinyl top which
had some minor rust that I fixed and the patch panels will need finished (small
area near rain gutters). I was not going
to put the vinyl roof back on.
Some of this
stuff will never be found again. If I
got into this hobby now and wanted to build an AMX, I know I wouldn’t find the
quarters, taillights, the AMX only interior-the stuff has dried up. I have driven to Phoenix, Tulsa, Oklahoma
City, to get most of this and scavenged what I could from southwest
Missouri. I’d like to think I have done
my part to make sure some Kenosha iron survived. All off this is located in Springfield, Missouri. I am selling in one lump. Dont ask me to separate it, I dont want to do that. I am dangling the NOS taillights and AMX stuff as the icing on the cake to sell all the big sheetmetal parts/engines. If you have questions, please contact me. You
have to take ALL the Javelin parts
.
