International Harvester Scout (1972)

Price: US $11,250.00

Description:

This 1972 International Harvester Scout II is a strong example of a beautiful daily driver and is powered by the desirable 345ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The truck was repainted by a previous owner in International Red along with white pinstripes and a black vinyl STC FasTrac soft top was added. The vinyl top fits snug surrounding the cabin and was recently conditioned. The interior is trimmed in black bucket seats with gray cloth. Equipment includes factory chrome front & rear bumper, 15″ wheels with 31″ tires. Scout II Chrome Rallye Wheels are in very good ‘daily driver’ condition that can be re-chromed for show Scouts or just use as is. Wheels are wrapped in 31x10.5 Goodyear Wrangler RT/S with mud flaps. Braking is handled by power-assisted front disc and power steering on this Scout II makes driving a pleasure.
The interior is trimmed in original stock black vinyl with gray cloth inserts on the seats and also features black door panels and a black dash in excellent condition with no cracks. Lap belts are installed front and rear. The factory AM stereo does not deliver sound, but the radio does power on. The weather-stripping and window seals are in great condition throughout and the floor pans and bed have all been treated with black floor lining undercoating and are solid. Wood grain factory instrumentation is behind the original 3-spoke steering tilt-wheel, which bears a Scout horn button, and sits ahead of a 100-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, alternator charge, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 26, 225 miles. True mileage is unknown. This Scout supports the always powerful 345 cu in - a more commanding upgrade over the standard 304 and factory-rated at 158 horsepower and nearly 300 net lb-ft of torque. Sitting in a very clean engine bay, this V8 comes with a 2BBL Holley carburetor sends power to the rear or all four wheels, which is engaged via the original IH Lock-o-Matic locking hubs that turn effortlessly. Service records indicate that the brake system, master cylinder and hoses were serviced in 2014 and the dual exhaust system was serviced in 2015.
This Scout comes with a spare tire (not in the pictures). This 48-year-old Scout II has several surface scratches & minor dings, which can be visible up close. A dent is also noted in the rear driver-side fender that can be easily repaired. Paint bubbles were identified at the front driver-side wheel well beneath the trim, as indicated in the gallery of pics and a body mount on the front passenger side will need to be replaced. Some chrome flaking on the rear bumper is evident, but it is a good solid piece that can be re-chromed. The soft top vinyl windows also have several scratches and a ½ inch tear is on the rear window. Interior / Exterior / Engine and Undercarriage Photos can be viewed in the gallery. This 72 Scout II is an excellent foundation for you to customize, or drive it as-is and enjoy it as a great daily driver! Please note, Ebay Motors limits the number of photos that can be posted. I would be happy to take additional photos and send to you directly if interested.
