Up for auction, is this super cool
1973 Austin Mini Innocenti 1000
. This car is incredibly clean for it's age, and has a ton of originality. You likely won't find a better Innocenti, (or any classic mini) in this kind of condition. Check out the photos.
This Mini was built for the Italian market. Therefore, it has left-hand drive; crank windows (not sliding windows), and wind-wings. Also, the gauges are in Italian...ie: benzina is printed on the gas-gauge and olio for the oil pressure gauge. So cool!
I have owned this mini for 3 years. I have had a blast owning it, but I'm more of a Porsche guy, so I'm going to let this mini go to a new home.
Mini's physical condition: Very solid and original. Note: original Innocenti I steering wheel with logo on the horn (yes the horn works). Original rubber Innocenti floor-mats, again, with the I logo. The interior is in fantastic condition, and check out that super-cool dash...see the photos.
Paint is in good condition, and has a good shine. It's not a perfect paint job, but very respectable at any mini-meet or other car show, and the water beeds right off. There are a couple knicks and small dents, and I tried to capture those in photos. Largest dent is about 3 inches, and is located near the gas filler. There is also a small dent in the rain-gutter above the windshield... other knicks and dents are super-minor. Just typical driving stuff...check photos and you'll see how clean and straight this car is.As for rust, this car is 99% rust-free...there is some surface corrosion in the trunk. It's not serious or structural, and hasn't changed in the 3 years I've owned the car, and it doesn't penetrate through...same thing under the drivers side floor-mat...again, doesn't penetrate through. I tried to capture it in photos, but it's truly insignificant, and hasn't changed in 3 years.
Mechanically, this car is in great shape! I recently (this month) spent $4k on the transmission. (see photo of receipt) The car was popping out of 2nd gear during deceleration, so I had the whole transmission gone through, and while it was apart, I had the final drive updated to a gear that is more freeway friendly. Now the car can cruise short freeway trips without winding out. 70mph is not a problem.Over the past 3 years, I've had brakes done, carb rebuilt, suspension work done, and more...take a look at the receipt photos. All work done by Graham's team down at Heritage in Costa Mesa...considered one of the top classic mini guys on the west coast. Mechancially, this car needs nothing.
Mileage: True mileage is unknown, and the odo/speedo is in kilometers. .fyi.
What next?. . When I look at buying a car, I always ask the owner, If you were going to keep it, what would you do next to the car?. ..So here is my answer: 1) I'd get a stereo (current unit is not connected), 2) I'd get new tires at some point..not because the current ones are worn, they're just aged, and better to be safe. . and lastly, I'd get new weather stripping for the trunk door...water leaks in when I wash it, so I have to open the trunk and dry the inside. That's it...this car doesn't need anything to be driven and enjoyed... I took all the photos on Feb 16 2017 during a drive up Palos Verdes and into Manhattan Beach.
The car is currently registered. . no smog required...and I have a clear title in my possession, and in my name.
If you're local, and want to see the car in person, I'm okay with that. I'm confident you'll like the car.I do plan to advertise the car for-sale, so it's quite possible the car will sell before the auction ends.
If you have questions, just ask.
Money:
I have set a reserve that is well below market-value for this car.
The winning bidder will need to send me a $500 non-refundable deposit, via paypal, within 24 hours of the auction ending. After that, the balance is due within 7 days. I will accept any form of payment, but the car won't leave my possession until all funds have 100% cleared my bank. If payment is not received within 7 days, I'll move on to another buyer...it's only fair.
Again, if you've got questions, just ask. .
Best of luck...Dave
