Up for auction we have a 1976 Vanguard Citicar that was manufactured in Florida. This is a 48 volt electric street legal urban commuter car based on a golf cart chassis. When was the last time you saw one of these on the road? I am the second owner of this car- I bought it from the original owner's estate, with the intention of getting it up and running and using it around town. However, I now have too many vehicles and need to reduce inventory so to speak.
This car was originally purchased to be a show car. The original owner used it strictly to display next to his race cars. As far as I know, it was NEVER driven on the street. After all these years, the car has 32 actual miles on it! Yes 32! When the owners were done showing it, they parked it in the garage and forgot about it. A garage find if there ever was one. It is EXACTLY as it was when it was last parked all those years ago. A time capsule from 1976.
The car obviously does NOT currently run. It still has the factory original batteries in it from 1976 that have dried up long ago. If you look closely you can see the labels that say EXIDE Electric Vehicle on top. In fact the entire car is original right down to the tires and hubcaps. Everything is original. It even has the hard to find original side curtains and self contained battery charger.
(The skates under the tires, do NOT go with the car. I use those for storage.)
Now the bad:
*The car does NOT run due to the original batteries being dry. *The brake shoes and hardware will need to be replaced as they were rusted to the drums, but I did free them up so the car will roll now. *The plastic body has several large cracks in it up near the corner of the windshield that will need to be repaired. The car has never had any body damage, so I assume this was caused by temperature fluctuations in the unheated garage it was stored in. *There is some minor surface rust on the original hubcaps.
This is likely one of the lowest mileage Vanguard Citicars left in existence. I have a clear title in my name. Car is located in IOWA. If you have any questions, please message me so we can arrange a phone conversation. Thanks for looking at this very unique vehicle...
I have been as honest as possible about the condition of this car, but I STRONGLY recommend a personal inspection prior to bidding. I am not an expert on these cars, and listing is based on the best of my knowledge.
Oh yes, and please ignore the dates on the pictures, the time on the camera was not set. The pictures were taken a few days ago.
The fine print:
Your bid is an agreement to PURCHASE, not an invitation to inspect it. Inspections need to be done prior to bidding. This vehicle is vintage, and is being sold as is and where is, with absolutely no warranty express or implied. Buyer assumes responsibility for ALL necessary repairs and transportation costs. $500.00 PayPal deposit required within 48 hours of auction close. The balance due by CASH, certified check, or bank draft within 7 days of auction close. I will not release the vehicle until funds clear the bank. Buyer makes all arrangements for shipping, although I can be available to help load. Once paid for, I can store the vehicle for a few days if necessary while you arrange shipping. Any longer than that, buyer needs to contact me. I WILL CANCEL ALL BIDS FROM BUYERS WITH LESS THAN 10 FEEDBACKS UNLESS YOU CONTACT ME FIRST. Nonpaying bidders will be reported to and the auction will be relisted. I will let the auction run its course, there is no reserve or Buy it Now option.
