International Harvester Scout SSII (1978)

Up for grabs is this 1978 IH Scout SSII. This one-of-a-kind truck went through an extensive 2 years frame-off restoration completed in 2010. Every single bolt was removed and replaced during said restoration.
The SSII was a special performance package offered on Scout IIs from '77 up to '79. The package consisted of removable doors/top, special colors, and stripes among other things. SSIIs were intended to compete with AMC's Jeep CJs. Just under 4000 Scout SSIIs were produced.
This example is an all original, matching number Super Scout. It has the original 345 Baja-Cruiser V8 Engine, original 4-speed manual transmission, original DANA300 transfer-case and the original Dana 44s front and rear differentials. I have washed this same truck when it was brand new at the dealership 40 years ago and bought it later, in the month of June 1985.
It has been professionally modified and lifted. Spring Over Axles plus 4 inches of suspension lift. Double Rancho Shocks on all 4 corners. 3 inches of body lift. We followed the advice of Dick Cepek's offroad modification specialists. Differentials have been professionally cut, centered and balanced in a machine shop so Driveshafts are at a perfect angle. This scout does not have or need steering stabilizers. Nothing shakes, nothing rattles, it goes as straight as an arrow on the street. (It cost around 8000$ in the best machine shop in town 30 years ago).
It sits on 38.5'' Interco Super-Swamper Boggers.
Magnaflow Stainless steel 3'' double exhaust systemDiamond Plate aluminum floor bolted over sheet metal floor (easy to clean, protects the sheet metal/paint)
This Scout came from the factory with white soft top/doors. They were in bad shape so they were thrown away during the restoration. They are available brand new from super scout specialist and are quite affordable. Original Stripes are also available from super scout specialist. The stripes on this scout are not of the OEM size since we could not find OEM stripes during the restoration. It has not been out in the snow/rain/trail/mud since the restoration.
The truck's been in a safe storage since 2013
I'm putting it up on eBay with a reserve.
If you have any question, please ask before bidding.
I will be glad to help with the shipping/handling and customs.
U.S / International bidders are more than welcome.

“Was completely restored 8 years ago. Everything was rebuilt. Everything works as it did back in '78. Original Omaha-Orange paint code. Stripes would need to be changed for higher quality. Sheet metal was all redone on floors and body. (Body color sheet metal under the diamond plate floors)” |
