Up for auction, without reserve, we have a lovely 1978 MGB roadster. A rust free California car purchased by the current owner from a California dealer in 2011. This MGB has been regularly serviced and well maintained since its purchase.
With a turn of the key this MGB starts right up without hesitation. The automatic choke works properly, and though you need to baby it a bit at cold, when it starts to warm up it just drives so nicely. Shifting through gears is nice and smooth as it should be. The brakes are firm and upon braking this roadster pulls up nice and straight. The suspension feels nice and firm without any unwanted knocks and bonks as your driving. The steering is tight and turns easily without any vibration. The engine was rebuilt back in 2011 which is very evident with how nicely it drives.
The interior is very tidy and complete. The black vinyl seats are in very good condition without rips or tears through the seams. The dash is complete with all gauges in working order, however there is some minor cracking to the dash (see pictures). The indicators work and self cancel, along with the headlights and sidelights. The radio works, but the speakers may need to be replaced in the near future as they sound a little crackly. The wipers work, and the push horn works as well. The black carpeting throughout is in really great condition, and the door panels are in decent condition but they do show some wear and wrinkling – they are original. The driver’s and passenger’s window roll up and down properly and all glass is clear without cracks. The convertible top is really good, aside from a small tear on the passenger’s side and drivers side, the convertible top is practically new and rarely used. The trunk space is tidy and complete with spare wire wheel, car cover, and SNAN jump starter which all come with the sale of the car.
The exterior has been inexpensively re-painted classic British Racing Green and is in ok condition with some cracking and chipping of the paint in places, but nothing too eye catching. The body is nice and straight and the front and rear rubber bumpers are in good condition. There is some undercarriage damage to the front drivers' side, looks to have fallen victim to a high curb. The chrome trim is shiny and complete. The wire wheels are in good shape and the tires have plenty of life left in them.
Overall this MGB roadster is a very good example of a clean rust free California car. I can’t stress enough how nicely this car runs. If you’re looking for a solid MG to drive around town and enjoy then look no farther because this is the one. Bid with confidence as we have sold many classic cars on Ebay with 100% feedback.
