Price: US $455.00
For Sale is a matching numbers 1979 Pontiac Trans Am with T
Tops. This car was originally purchased locally at the Pontiac dealership in
Talladega Alabama. I Still have the original paper work that came with the car:
(owners manual , window sticker, etc.) The car has the original 403 olds and
original 350 turbo automatic transmission. The description of the car will be
as transparent as I can be with all the information that I have been given of
the car. Both the motor and the
transmission have been rebuilt about 8
years ago with approximately 5000 miles on it since the rebuild. Listed are
recent upgrades : new battery, dynomax
headers and exhaust, new original hobnail seat upholstery, carpet , door
panels, arm rest, rear interior panels, sail panels, package tray, keenwood stereo, tires, brakes, wheels were professionally done, radiator, starter, alternator, performance ignition, passenger floor pan was replaced . The body is
straight with no dents and the previous owner had the car repainted with new
decals, also have a car cover for it. Doors are solid and don’t sag and close
tight. The paint on the car is a Cobalt
Pearl Green: Code UN1. I have a pint of it for touchups; the color at certain
shades has a blue affect. The paint still has a nice shine too it, but is has
some road wear in spots. There is one spot where I did a touch up on the lower
front panel near the spoiler where a grocery cart hit the car and chipped the
paint and I touched it up; it is not very noticeable due to its location, but
it could have been a better touch up job if I had a sprayer to do it. All that remains as far as getting the
interior up to new is the t top head liner, trim and t top weather strip, aslo
the buckets seats need the plastic kick panel on the back of them and the door window crank handle on driver side needs replacing due to it is stripped out; I bought an auto zone brand it didn't seem to be a good fit. The dash does have a crack
which is visible in one of the photos. Most of the gauges work on the
cluster panel; even the clock. The speedometer I was told is not registering
due to the transmission speedo gear is the wrong one, which the previous owner
said he had the wrong color coded speedo gear in there; I don’t know much about
this, but it was described as a small plastic part that goes in between the
speedometer cable and the port where it goes in the transmission. Also the RPM meter doesn’t seem to register correctly.
This car originally came equipped with Air Conditioning. When the previous
owner pulled the motor and transmission and had the car painted, he did not
reinstall the AC, which he gave me all the parts to reinstall if wanted ; I
have all these components boxed up to go with the car. I will accommodate shipping if needed at
buyers expense. I have the reserve price
set lower than what I have in this car.
Good Luck.
