Here’s the story…
I have bought and sold many cars over the years here on Ebay but they have always been Cadillac’s. I’m a car lover, but being a Cadillac collector and restorer is my passion. Here’s how and why I ended up with a 1980 Trans Am.
They are only original once!
We have all heard that before and while it is true finding real original documented unrestored cars in outstanding low mileage brand new condition are few and far between and are usually a car that is not very desirable.
Chasing another Cadillac…
In my pursuit of another Cadillac in June of this year I noticed this Trans Am stored on the other side of the building. Not being a Trans Am aficionado I wasn’t sure of the exact year and all the details but I’m a car guy and what initially stood out was the color (Ontario Gray) and the amazing condition. Assuming it was just another beautifully restored car I didn’t pay more attention to it until my wife who had come along with me took a closer look and grabbed me to inspect the car further.
Fast forward…
So the car turns out to be a completely original 1980 Pontiac Trans Am with 7, 900 original miles. To my amazement this was a brand-new car. Fully documented with the build sheet, window sticker, every book, manual and warranty that came with car when new. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity I had to have it.
The car was purchased new in Varna, IL on May 19, 1980 and resided with the original owner until February 8, 2016 (36 years with the original owner). Every belt, hose, sticker, chalk mark is original and correct. Seeing is believing. I welcome inspections at any time. This is one incredible find and belongs with a Trans Am lover. Its one of a kind.
Of course, everything works including the clock. Runs and drives beautiful. Please come see and drive for yourself.
***Please note:
The only thing that I have done to the car was remove the original wheels and UNIROYAL tires and put them aside for safe keeping and install brand new SNOWFLAKE wheels and BF Goodrich radial T/A’s. Both sets of wheels and tires come with the car and have less than 50 miles on them. I have included pics of the car with both sets of shoes on.
Original owner upgraded the radio with no alterations to the dash. I have the original radio in perfect condition. The original front license bracket was carefully removed. I have as well.
