1981 DeLorean for sale. Completely original and driven just 3, 100 miles since new. Still has original Goodyear NCT tires, original spare tire, engine hoses and belts, and exhaust system (muffler has 81 stamp) and original interior including leather seats. Complete documentation including original bill of sale, Michigan one owner title (dated 1981 with gold leaf seal), and factory window sticker. Rare grooved hood and fuel door. Museum quality. Like new engine compartment, chassis, and interior. Grain on stainless is excellent. Paint on bumpers is in excellent condition. Seams where the bumpers and stainless meet are tight as they left the factory. All electrical and mechanical components in working order. All door, hood, and trunk struts operate smoothly.
Recent maintenance included full 4-brake caliper rebuild with new pistons and seals, new brake hoses, complete cooling system flush, oil and oil filter change, engine gaskets replaced (no leaks), air conditioning recharged with R-12 and leak tested (air blows ice cold). All work was accomplished at DMC Florida, in Bonita Springs. Over $4, 000 in receipts.
Car sat in storage so we drained the fuel tank and replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter. The new fuel pump installation eliminates the old plastic baffle and rubber hose pick up and replaces it with a simple stainless steel baffle and direct fuel pick up filter at the end of the pump. The fuel accumulator was also replaced with a new Bosch unit which eliminated hot start issues (a common DeLorean problem). We also replaced all of the fuses and relays with a complete DMC electrical update kit and kept the old units for any future judging. A new alternator was installed as well new A/C and alternator belts. Kept the original (under powered) Ducellier alternator as well as the original A/C and alternator belts.
Car has been stored in a climate controlled garage most of its life. The frame is very clean and rust free. The wheel wells are spotless as car was never driven in rain. Unlike other low mileage cars, care was taken to make sure this car would drive safely on any road. Even though the tires show no sign of dry rot, we recommend replacing the 35 year old tires if you plan on driving the car any distance. This is a true survivor car with correct factory components for any future concours judging. If you're looking for an investment quality DeLorean, this is it!
