Up for auction is a wonderful 1982 Alfa Romeo Balocco SE. I am listing this car for a customer of mine who has moved away for a new job and has left the car with me. These Alfa’s are rather rare with only 350 of the Balocco SE editions being produced worldwide.
Mechanically the car runs and drives surprisingly well. Starts instantly cold or hot, idles well and has good power delivery throughout the rev range. The car shifts perfectly and the brake and clutch action are as they should be. I did detect some slight brake pedal sink when sitting at a traffic light so I would attribute that to a weak or aged brake master cylinder. I also can give no time estimate for the timing belt so my recommendation would be to budget for a replacement. The car does have some electrical issues – The gauges are almost all inoperative – The speedometer does work but the odometer does not. – Please call me and I can give you my recommendation for repair.
Cosmetically the car shows well with a prior repaint and a 100% original interior. The interior leather can be saved with a proper reconditioning and stitch repair by an upholstery shop. The car does include the factory side ground effects but one section is missing. Rust does not seem to be a great issue on this car. The upper radiator support does have some rust but looks like an easy fix. The underside is in surprisingly good shape. To avoid writing a novel please call me directly and ask questions!
