This FJ40 provides a rare opportunity to combine originality with practicality. Here's a rare
1982 FJ40
in very good condition. This truck has been lovingly owned and maintained by Land Cruiser enthusiasts throughout it's life. She has been adult owned, garaged kept and driven lightly over the years...seeing little off road activity. The initial owner was a pilot and maintained this FJ40 meticulously, keeping excellent records in a flight log booklet. The second and third owners have kept similar records ongoing. These maintenance records, the original booklets, and rare inspection light are included. The body tub was replaced a number of years ago with a high quality Aqualu aluminum body tub. You can read about the product at hardbody4x4. This aluminum body is excellent and provides freedom from rust issues...no more worrying about rust! The body tub conversion was done well, functions and looks great. The paint was done in Freeborn Red to match the original existing paint color. This paint job isn't show quality but very nice. It is important to note that although the body tub was replaced the
original interior
is retained including seats, vinyl upholstery, seat belts, hardware, cabin courtesy light, roll bar and padding, rare floor mats (front, side aprons, rear), center console, visors, etc... All the doors, hard top, headliner, window glass, windshield glass are original as well. The factory ride is set up with stock suspension and 31x10.5 Michelin XC LT4 tires on factory Toyota chrome wheels. These tires are in good condition and have a lot of tread remaining.This truck is in great mechanical condition. The original 2F engine
and drive train have been well maintained and the engine retains the factory emissions
. It starts up right away every time. The engine pulls strong with very good power and runs smoothy. The taller 3:70 gears
shift smoothly and means she will do 65-70 mph without a problem. 4wd high and low work perfectly. Breaking is predictable and strong. This Land Cruiser is a pleasure to drive. The truck needs nothing to be enjoyed daily. It is a clean, honest FJ40 that runs great.

North American spec 1982 FJ40's are rare, not many were shipped by Toyota to the United States in the 80's. These later year (79-83) FJ40's are far superior to earlier models. They not only benefit from improvements shared with late 70's FJ40's including 4 speed transmission, larger 2F engine, bucket seats, rear ambulance doors, pop out rear windows, front disc breaks, and improved spare tire carrier...They also gained 3:70 gears giving better top speed and highway cruising, relocated larger fuel tank (now under the vehicle), better seats, integrated rear heater, split transfer case, and improved parking brake. This is an excellent opportunity to own a very nice, rare, well maintained 1982 FJ40. This truck is located in Charlotte, NC.
