Here today i am selling my 1984 Mercedes 300CD turbo diesel Coupe .
Mercedes built these wonderful 2 door coupes from 1978 until 1985 and only from 1982 until 1985 with the turbodiesel version. They already had a reputation for being utterly reliable and economical. Now with the turbo charger they were even more fun for every day driving.
This particular 300CD was finished in Champagne Metallic color ( MB color code 473) with Palomino color MB-Tex interior. It has always been a California car and still even has the original CA blue license plates from 1984. There is no rust and the body is still in wonderful condition. There are no nicks, dents or accidents. The paint is gorgeous and still shines like on a much newer car. I do get compliments and thumbs up on this car every time i take it out.
The interior is still very nice, as the many pictures will show. The seats are still firm and look great. The carpets are clean and even the original wood still looks good. The first aid kit is still the original from 1984. This car really looks amazing for being 33 years old. It was mostly garaged and it shows.
The best thing about this 300CD is the way it drives. It has always been maintained well and you can really feel the difference. Last month i took a 300 mile nonstop trip with it and it is a blast to drive in town and on the freeway. It always starts up right away and there is plenty of power. You can cruise constantly with 85-90 mph and still get 27 mpg of diesel.
Just recently we had the car serviced. The valves were adjusted, fluid and filters changed, a new glow plug relay was installed and the AC was converted to R134 and serviced. It blows ice cold. The original radio is still in the car , but it is temperamental . It only works sometimes.A new hood insulation pad was installed at the same time. All the door locks work properly as well as the cruise control , the sunroof and the climate control. All the windows work. Right now i could not think of anything it needs.
This is a wonderful classic Mercedes , which you can drive every day. These cars are known to drive well with over 500k miles on them with the right maintenance. With only 145k well maintained miles , this one is barely broken in. It would be perfect for somebody who wants to drive it every day . But it would also make a nice addition to any classic car collection. Mercedes only made 8007 300CD coupes for the American market. Even though you still see them driving on the road , you hardly ever see them in this condition.
I would prefer to sell the car to somebody who could actually come by and see it. But i would also be helpful with shipping arrangements or an airport pick up for out of town buyers. Please have your funding in order and do all your due diligence BEFORE placing a bid. It is expensive to list on Ebay and i do not want to waste anybody's time. If you do have any questions , please ask and i will get back to you quickly. Please look at all the pictures , as they can describe this Mercedes better than i can. This car comes with 2 keys , the books and records and a clear CA title in my name.
