Description:

Up for your consideration today is my Diamond Blue 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL with parchment interior. This is candidly the rarest and in my opinion the best color combination for a R107 chassis. Now I can sit here all day and talk about 560's and what is important in buying one, where the value lies, ect. However, I'm not a salesman and won't pretend to be one. I've been collecting vintage Mercedes since back at my dealership days. Do I call myself a R107 expert? No. Have I owned over 50 560's? Yes. So, I guess I know a thing or two about them.
This car is a all original paint, super dry unmolested example of what a 560 should be. Impeccable maintenance history. Absolutely no accidents of any kind. In my experience these cars typically mic out at about 3.5-4 mils paint thickness, in a car that has not been over polished or (cut). This car is no exception. The paint on this car is completely original and shows commensurately with the mileage. No significant door dings, ect.
This car of course, like all R107's has both it's original hard too and stowed soft top, which I don't think was used much. Complete with spoons, tool kit, aluminum hard top carriage, ect.
The wheels and tires are obviously not original to the car, I do however have them, and they have been in a climate controlled environment and have been off the car since the early 1990's. In short, don't write off the car if you do not like the wheels. The originals are included.
Mechanically, the car has been maintained with a open checkbook and everything works. From the Becker Grand Prix radio to the original Meischerchaft antenna. Only routine scheduled maintenance was done to the car. It is noteworthy that I had the timing chains and rails replaced as merely a precautionary measure. In my experience, these items are consumables. The plastic tends to degrade over time, not mileage. This is not a inexpensive undertaking. I think it is prudent that if you buy any 560, I would not consider one without chains and guides having been already replaced, by a reputable MB facility.
I also had the subframe bushings replaced because they are rubber, and typically the Achilles heal of the R107.
This 560 has all of its' original glass, rubber is all very nice, ect.
The car does not run hot, runs as smooth as silk, trans shifts great, brakes do not pulse or pull.
This is not a trailer queen SL that has been parked for the past 30 years. She gets regular exercise in the summer months, has never been exposed to the elements, ect.
I really don't know what else to say about this particular 560. It is about the nicest driving 560 I have ever had the pleasure of driving.
My reason for selling is that I have amassed a collection of over 30 SL's along with Pagodas, some vintage diesel Mercedes, ect. My interests have changed and I am investing in other endeavors. I have sold at least ten of my other cars on eBay, and have not had any bad luck yet, except for the gypsies and flakes. So, please, contact me only if you have finances in place. If you have to ask your wife, accountant, or get a loan, do not bid. You can feel free to call me to discuss the car at any reasonable hour at (312) 622-7533 or via email. I am in the export and shipping business, so I can definitely assist with shipping in the States and world wide. I have the car listed on other sites as well, and I can and will end this auction in the event of a sale outside of eBay. Obviously, a car if this vintage is sold as-is.
