**ATTENTION**
My original auction had to be canceled and relisted, because of eBay technical issues with adding new photos that they could not fix. I apologize for the inconvenience. Please see the updated photos, as well as a few updates to my description.
Selling my beloved 1987 Lotus Turbo Esprit HCi due to a family which has outgrown a two seater. I've owned it since 2009 and purchased it from a collector in California. It's black (paint code A02) over ox-blood Connolly red leather, has roughly 27K miles, and is #87 of the 159 US market Turbo Esprits in 1987. Of these, it's 1 of 7 in black over red. This information and more come from the Lotus Company Archivist in a letter and formal Certificate of Provenance. Please also forgive the quality of the photos. The red interior is extremely hard to photograph, and in some pictures it can look pinkish, orangish, or blinding red. On top of that, it varies by computer/phone displays. And because I used an SLR, every speck of lint shows up, despite having been dusted first. I did take a few artsy photos for fun though, that I like how they came out.
More about the car: Has new timing belt, recent radiator, tires, and a few other minor things (bushings, brakes, etc.). A/C has been converted to r134a and has a new compressor. It's garage kept and covered and has little wear and tear. There is nothing leaking or needed to be repaired or adjusted. It's never been in an accident or had any body or paint work beyond polishing and rare rock chip repair. The bumpers are not warped/rippled in any way. They have also never been painted or coated, so they still have the correct factory appearance. Interior is also 100% original and soft, treated only with Leatherique during my ownership. None of the fiberglass body is sunk-in or warped from the sun. Removable sunroof of course, and I have both the original storage bag for it, as well as the little fiberglass wind deflector lip, that's inserted when the panel is removed (can see it in one of the photos). Wheels were silver painted originally, but a previous owner went for the much more attractive polished look. If you're a purest, it's a cheap easy fix to return them to silver. The original tool kit is complete and included, as is the owner's manual and shop manual. Summary - fully maintained, nearly all original and complete, and easily one of the nicest Esprits in the country, but do remember it is a 30 year old car being driven about a thousand miles a year. I don't take it to shows to collect trophies, but inevitably it's earned best of show three times, including one all British motorcar event. Trophies do not go with the car.
Notes on the last three photos: The third from last was taken last year for a Concours event participant catalog. It currently has the turbo esprit hci side decals, but the car was delivered new without them. These are original NOS decals from JAE, so are 100% correct. I also installed them (probably even more accurately) to factory specs. And yes, that's a joke if you know how they originally installed them :)
The third from last was taken when it was used in the filming of Anchorman 2, but any scene that had it in there was cut unfortunately. And last but not least, it participated in the 2016 Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d'Elegance (not the Car Club Showcase on Saturday, but the actual Concours event on Sunday). How you ask, if it's newer than 1973? Lotus was the featured marque, and I was invited for display only to represent the Esprit model. The best part was following Mario Andretti's 1969 Lotus Type 64 Indy car onto the field. I seriously wanted to pass it, just to say I did.
Last comments, if you have any questions or want more photos, please email me. I am happy to assist in getting the car prepped and loaded, if you transport it. If being exported, I will help in any way I can with documentation and paperwork. If shipping, I do recommend enclosed transport. The car will also be top to bottom professionally detailed, at my expense, before it is shipped. Thanks, and good luck!
