We just purchased it from its original owner and it’s VERY NICE, especially when considering the fact that it’s 29 years old and extremely original. In 1988, all Legends had a not so desirable luxury 2 tone paint job and the bottom portion of this one was gun metal gray (that was immediately painted red to do away with the 2 tone upon purchase). When more Legends were still on the road, people would stare at the car and wonder why it looked so much better than it siblings.
This Legend has several unique characteristics, since Bright Red was only available in the base model, it does not have the renowned for severe cracking leather interior or the nightmarish early Bose sound system that had ill-conceived individual amps attached to each speaker that failed miserably and cost over $250 each to replace. This one has dark gray cloth interior and a Alpine Acura badged cassette radio.
The Fittapaldi wheels came with a clear coated brushed aluminum finish and were later chromed. Other than these items, the car is original with upgraded front and rear speakers, added tweeters and the optional color coordinated factory spoiler (very subtle, but really adds to the look). At 188, 981 miles (90%+ highway, there’s no rust, it’s always been garaged, never wrecked, never smoked in and everything on the car still works. The original wheels will come with the car if you wont them (center caps are MIA).
