It handles great, the engine is smooth & strong and the AC was just charged up three days ago. This is not a show car , but it looks great see the photos. This car has 159, 000 miles but it will increase in value because 944s are rare and Cabriolets are even more rare. I have spared no expense fixing the 944. You may call me to ask questions. ..Dan 561 302 6106 PS I forgot to shoot pictures of the roof down. The roof goes up & down by hand manual & I have two roof release keys
This is one of the rarest Porsche convertibles built in the last 40 years (exception: Carrera GT) and an undisputed future collectible with excellent investment potential. A small Number of approximately 2, 402 were brought to the US from 1989 until 1991. Please see: here . (This is why you never see them). The 3.0 Liter engine was the largest cylinder Porsche had ever designed and allows for a very high revolution (RPM) and Torque, yet allowing very good gas mileage (20-29 MPG.) Putting out an impressive 208HP, this 16 valve double overhead cam normally aspirated engine has a top speed of 159 mph, Dual airbags, Rack and pinion steering, 5 speed transmission with LARGE 4 wheel ventilated BREMBO disc brakes, Kenwood CD player with Bluetooth. In 1989 the 944 S2 was introduced, powered by a 211 PS (155 kW; 208 hp) normally aspirated, dual-overhead-cam 16-valve 3.0L version of the 944S engine. With a bore of 104 mm (4.1 in) and a stroke of 88 mm (3.5 in), it was the largest production 4-cylinder engine of its time. The 944S2 also received a revised transmission and gearing to better suit the 3.0-liter M44/41 powerplant. The 944S2 had the same rounded nose and a rear valance found on the Turbo model. This was the first example of the use of an integrated front bumper, where the fender and hood profiles would merge smoothly with the bumper, a design feature that has only now seen widespread adoption on the 1990 onward production cars. Performance was quoted as 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds (0–100 km/h 6.8 s), with a top speed of 240 km/h (150 mph) via manual transmission. In 1990 Porsche released the 944 S2 Cabriolet, a first for the 944 line which featured the cabriolet body built by ASC-American Sunroof Company at Weinsberg Germany. Porsche produced units for all markets including right-hand drive for the United Kingdom, Australia and South Africa. The 944r was raced around the world and in the British championship called the Porsche Motorsport Championship. Production was limited to three years; 1989, 1990 and 1991.
