The Toyota Century is well known as the Company's flagship car in Japan.
This Executive Class Full Size Luxury Sedan is currently still in limited production and is only sold at specific Toyota locations in Japan. The current MSRP in Japan for a new 2016 model is over $120, 000.00 converted into U.S. currency. The Century entered into production in 1967 and has remained largely unchanged, with only some mechanical changes in 1997. The platform is an elegant premium right hand drive sedan that is manufactured primarily for the Japanese market.
It's history is impressive. It is a Japanese luxury car that is classy and elegant yet understated and thoroughly Japanese. Created in the days when a Japanese car was made for Japans tastes and to serve the enthusiasts of Old World luxury. Conservatively styled with sense & honor, it simply exudes exclusivity. Nothing beats it when it comes to the attention to detail & quality of assembly. A true luxury vehicle that not only targets the Royal Family and Japanese dignitaries, but hardworking executives and businessmen. It is an extremely rare and unique automobile. It is a piece of history with select notoriety from those appreciating expert hand-craftsmanship coupled with quality & value. Truly a special vehicle, intended to service Japanese dignitaries in the same way as the Rolls Royce Phantom or the Mercedes Benz 600 Grosser were designed to do.
The Century derived its name from the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sakichi Toyoda, (yes spelled with a d) the founder of Toyota Industries. In 1984 the Century was only shipped with a V8 4.0L Engine with 190hp and 238 pounds of torque. The Century is NOT made in one of Toyota's plants...it is Manufactured by another Division of Toyota called Kanto Auto Works. The Kanto decal is still located on the inner trunk lid of this vehicle. The Century was selected by an Auto Digest as One of the 10 Cars for the most Powerful People in the World. It also stated that the Century is one of the few cars in the world that represent Crime and Order in equal measures. The entire article went on explain why they made that statement. Laden with all the luxuries and conveniences imaginable, the Century even has (as an example) Reclining and Massaging rear Seats!
In beautiful YAMATO ILLUSION GREY the Paint on this Century is all ORIGINAL and we would be bold enough to make the statement ...if not the cleanest in North America. Remarkable after 26 years of life and is a testimony to the care and attention it received throughout its life. The Body is deadly straight with not as much of a ripple, scratch or door ding anywhere. The Body panel gaps and fit are all perfect. ..as you would expect from a premium Japanese car. The high quality of the factory paint finish obviously contributed to it withstanding 30 years of history but in addition the vehicle has always been garage stored and boasts ONLY 56, 749 KM on its 6 digit odometer which converts to about 35, 000 Original Miles. The Engine Compartment is completely original and untouched. .still wearing all its Japanese Warning and Operational Decals. All the Glass is Original to the car including the front windshield that doesn't have a chip. The Factory Hubcaps sport the Century logo and in themselves are impossible to replace. All the Exterior Trim, Badging, Chrome and Stainless is in absolutely stunning condition. The Interior as well is completely ORIGINAL to the car and is in perfect shape! The original removable factory white head rest covers and FACTORY PILLOW are still wrapped in brand new plastic. The original window curtains have been opened but appear to have never been installed.
. .all the seat material is like new! It is a very traditional Japanese look. As a matter of interest these cars were manufactured without a leather interior as the Old World Japanese culture did not like the feel, smell or sound of leather for automobile seating.
It is loaded with all Options imaginable for its time period. .all of which were standard on the Century.
